Disclaimer: No, I still do not own Death Note.
Mello lay back on the bed and looked up at the ceiling. The suite was opulent. But then again Mello was never one to do anything on a small scale. Listening to the sound of the shower running was the most comforting sound in the world. It meant he wasn't alone. The original idea for this trip was to get away from business and relax for a while especially after all the fall out the Kira case caused.
They'd been in Vegas for a little over a month and the place honestly doesn't get old.
His head fell slightly to the left and his eyes focused on to the two laptops on the dresser with the lids up their screens broken into six smaller screens each. The systems were running a surveillance program complete with facial recognition. And for the entire time they had been in Sin City there had been not one single hit. In Mafia business, even if you are a Boss one can never be too careful even when you are not actively working.
Running the beads of the rosary across his lips Mello was lost in thought.
Dropping the necklace it fell slightly to his side against his black leather vest as he folded his hands across his middle.
Mello sighed.
Fifteen years.
That's a long time to know someone.
Fifteen years.
That was the first time he'd seen that big round head, those goggles, the shy smile and that shock of auburn hair. He and Mail Jeevas had been inseparable best friends ever since.
Silence; the shower stopped running.
Mello, his eyes mere slits by the way he was laying watched Matt as he walked back into the bedroom with a towel around his waist.
'He won't even get dressed, but he will wear those damned goggles and play that game though,' Mello thought as the red head lay across the foot of the bed.
Mello sighed loudly.
Matt didn't pay that any attention he just continued to lie across the foot of the bed and play his DS. Besides Mello would do that when he was going to lecture Matt about his smoking. He on the other hand never so much as raised an eyebrow to Mello's colossal chocolate consumption or his obsession with firearms.
Mello sighed once again and began to speak, "Matty, there is something I want to run by you-"
"Alright." Matt responded he must have known this was something very serious because Mello never ran anything by anyone; he formulated a plan and that was it.
Actually turning the game off Matt placed it on the bed and grabbed his pack of cigarettes with his lighter and turned over onto his back. Before he completely came to rest on his back he placed the round flat ashtray on his stomach.
Mello heard the sound of Matt's lighter being flicked open as he lit his cigarette.
They laid in silence for the longest time, Mello contemplating a very serious decision and Matt becoming a bit unsettled because he sensed something wasn't right with Mello.
'But he always did have a flair for the dramatic. Even all that leather he wore didn't so much as raise an eyebrow here.' Matt thought as he almost laughed as he put the cigarette back to his lips and inhaled.
A sudden movement roused Matt from his thoughts because this was becoming, weird.
Matt glanced over slightly in the direction and noticed Mello's hand wasn't far from him palm up.
Placing his hand in Mello's, the blond closed his hand gently.
And once again they lay in silence.
After about fifteen minutes Mello turned his head so he was now looking right at Matt.
"Let's retire."
Finis…
