No matter what Mikasa had to go through on the battlefield, no matter how many painful deaths she has seen, there was always just one thing she had on her mind.

It was Eren.

A young tall boy with brown hair and unique turquoise eyes burning with desire and passion. A strong young body trained and prepared for battle. But it was still fragile compared to titans.

It didn't really matter for Mikasa that Eren has his titan power. He still was a boy who needed protection to her.

Or maybe Mikasa was the one who needed protection?

Even if she was considered strong and always calm on the outside, she wasn't emotionless. She wasn't that strong as people thought of her. Whenever Eren wasn't near her she felt unsure. On a battlefield nothing goes as planned. Even the most skilled soldiers can die.

I don't want to die, I don't want to die before making sure you're fine. I want to see you…"

Her words were like knives to her throat. She was lying on the ground all covered in blood. Her wounds were fatal. There was no way one person could come out of this alive. Even Mikasa.

She was fighting with her body that wanted to give up.

Eren."

She closed her eyes. That's when she saw that moment again. A courageous boy filled with ferocity slaughtering the man that killed her family and kidnapped her.

Fight! If you don't fight, you can't win!"

She started to recall all her moments spent with the boy whom saved her. The boy she loved.

Ah. I had a happy life. Thank you, Eren."

The blood started pouring from her mouth.

You've saved me enough times already. Just please be safe."

That's when he saw her among the lying corpses. At first he couldn't believe it. It just couldn't be Mikasa… She was the strongest, ranked first at graduation. The strongest one of the trio.

Eren jumped off the horse when he got close enough. Titans were already gone looking for some fresh meat to feast on and the field was only filled with dead bodies. Some of them were in pieces.

He kneeled before Mikasa and gently held her body. Sadness and anger were mixing on his face as he spoke to her, voice cracking from held tears.

Hey Mikasa! You can't die here! What are you doing? Open your god damn eyes!"

The tears started to slowly flow through his face.

Mikasa, please…please wake up!"

He hugged her still warm corpse.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

I've always loved you…"

He kissed her forehead while holding her body tight, close to his chest, ignoring the cracking sound of her bones.

Mikasa…"
