Hey there everyone! So this is going to be my first non-crossover story for Star vs the forces of evil. Now I've read a lot of fanfic in where Marco becomes a vampire, a werewolf and a half vampire half werewolf hybrid. But has there been where Marco becomes a dragon or a dragon hybrid? Well, I'm going to do that for this story. Just a heads up this will be taking place in season three of the show around the end of the episode Sophomore Slump, however before that, this first chapter will be the prologue. This was a spur of the moment idea, so sorry if I caught anyone off guard or something.
Anyway, let's get started okay?
Disclaimer: Star vs the forces of evil is the property of Ms. Daron Nefcy. I have no say on the matter.
Prologue: Legacy of the White Horn
Long ago, in a dimension known as Helios, the kingdom of Valora was in the middle of a great war with the kingdom of Hakai. Both kingdoms had been locked in bloody combat, one in hopes of merely surveying to see another sunrise and the other seeking to claim a power of one fabled creature that is said to have been the one who created the entirety of Helios, the very dimension they are fighting to control.
This creature is known as the White-Horned Crimson Dragon.
Said to have been born from the prayers of the people of Helios during their time of greatest need, with its powerful flames and control over the skies themselves, it helped form the very foundation of the Helios dimension. Once life had begun to thrive, the dragon had begun to seclude itself and watch how the people would live and evolve from a far. For the first few decades, it seemed like the people of Helios would thrive for many more generations from what the dragon saw. But as time went on, the kingdom of Hakai grew more powerful and soon began to invade the other kingdoms, leaving the once beautiful green fields desolated and burned to ashes until they came to face the last obstacle in their way, the kingdom of Valora.
As the dragon watched the two remaining kingdoms continue to fight with the very world it created dying around them, it noticed something not too far from the battle. Upon looking closer, the dragon saw two people, a boy and a girl of young age trying to flee from the raging conflict. From what the dragon sensed, it seemed like the boy's drive was to keep the girl safe no matter what befell him.
"Such a pure heart in one so young, if only the kingdoms of this realm could be more like this boy." The dragon said solemnly as it watched from its perch at a mountain top high above the clouds.
As the dragon continued to watch both the battle and the boy and girl flee from the chaos, it noticed the moon which was normally a pail blue, was now a glowing blood red.
"Hmm? What is this?" the dragon asked. When it looked closer at the red moon, it looked as if it were watching something. Following the light the moon was emitting, it saw that it was shining on the two children who were now fleeing into a near by forest. Unfortunately fire started spreading from the battle and reached the forest the two ran into and was soon engulfed in flames.
Seeing this, the dragon quickly took to the sky and flew towards the burning forest to save the two children. Upon reaching the forest, it let loose a deafening roar that summoned a monstrous rainstorm and powerful winds. The two kingdoms stopped fighting when they saw the very thing they were battling for flying high above them. The dragon paid them no mind as it watched the last of the fire be put out by the rain and wind.
Once the fire was extinguished and rain and wind stopped, the dragon flew over the scorched forest to see if the two children were un-harmed. It looked up and saw that the light from the red moon was pointing down at a spot in forest.
'Is that where they are?' the dragon silently asked as the red light grew bright as to answer it's question. The dragon flew to the spot the light was pointing to and came upon a small clearing, most of which was blackened and scorched. When it looked closer it saw the boy and girl sitting by a large rock, they looked to be pinned underneath a tree that must of fallen.
The dragon soon landed in the clearing and stood in front of the two young children. It soon saw the light from the red moon intensify.
"What? What is happening? Why is the moon-" the dragon stopped what it was about to say when it noticed that the two did not move when it landed in front of them. It bent it's head down to get a closer look, and in silent horror saw that they had terrible burns along they're upper bodies. He saw that the boy had dark-brown hair and the girl had long blonde hair which was now an ashy grey. They both had their eyes closed and smiles on their faces while they held each other's hands in what was most likely their final moments.
"Why? Why did fate choice to take these two souls? They had nothing to do with this, their lives should not have ended due to a foolish war for power!" the dragon roared in fury as it shot into the sky and flew towards the battlefield where the kingdoms of Valora and Hakai's arms were.
In no time at all it reached the torn and ravaged land, where it found that the army of Hakai had now completely over powered the Valora army.
'The Valora Kingdom, a kingdom that simply wished to live in peace along with all others. And it is now going to meet its end at the hands of a monster that I failed to notice growing throughout the generations.' The dragon thought sorrowfully as it saw the two armies stop and look up at it.
"Armies of the kingdoms Valora and Hakai!" The dragon spoke in a thunderous female voice that caused both armies to feel like the skies and ground were shaking. "I have watched your battle from a far, I have seen the destruction it has brought, the many innocent lives it has taken, more so the lives of two children. Children who perished in a fire caused by your battle!"
Upon hearing this, the soldiers of Valora were stricken with guilt and sorrow.
"What does it matter if two children died!?" an un-caring voice shouted.
Soon a man wearing silver armor and a red cape, walked out to the front of the soldiers of Hakai. From the look of the man, the dragon could tell he was the current ruler and the commander of the Hakai kingdom.
"Those who die so easily show they are not meant to hold power. I the king of Hakai, shall lead my kingdom to greater highs with your power! Even if that means slaying every man, woman and child that stands in our way!" he shouted in defiance as the soldiers of Valora glared daggers at him for his inhuman heartlessness.
The White Horned Crimson Dragon gave a baleful glare at the cold-hearted monarch which caused him and his soldiers to tremble in fear. She then looked to what was left of the Valora's army and saw that all the soldiers that were not glaring at opposing side wore faces of regret and sorrow at what they had done to their land. It was then that the dragon noticed a woman at the front of Valora's army wearing blue armor and a white battle skirt. She was carrying a shield in her left and a sword in her right, and she had flowing dark-brown hair. Her face mirrored that of the Valorain soldiers, but the dragon could see she had tears streaming down her face.
The dragon recognized the woman as the current ruler of the Valora Kingdom, she always thought of what was best for the kingdom and for her people. And if the dragon's memory served her right, she had a son who was just as thoughtful as his mother.
"So, that boy I found was… and the girl that was with him, was most likely someone precious to him." The dragon thought sorrowfully before glaring back at the king of Hakai.
"I… have come to a decision," the dragon said. "I… have failed in my role as the creator of this world. For I did not foresee the darkness that sprouted within the hearts of certain beings." She said still glaring at the Hakai army before looking over at the Valorain army. More specifically, at its queen. "Beings of Helios, it would appear that there is no hope left for this land. So it is with a heavy heart… that I must now wipeout all traces of this land… along with myself." The dragon said which shocked everyone.
"But before that, Queen of the Valora Kingdom, do you wish to be with your son before this world ends?" "M-my son? But he's-" "I know of where he is, as well as one who he cherished." The dragon said surprising the queen and her soldiers.
The Queen just stood there not knowing what to do, until she heard her soldiers calling to her.
"Your majesty… you should go… and see the young lord." "Yes you should go and be with him!" Her soldiers shouted which both surprised and made her happy.
She looked back to the one who created her world and said "Please, take me to where my son is now."
"As you wish," the dragon said she quickly swooped down and carried the queen to the destroyed forest leaving Hakai's king in shocked horror.
The dragon soon reached the clearing and allowed the queen to climb down from her back. When she was on the ground, she looked and saw her son sitting pinned under a fallen tree with the girl he told her about so many times. She walked over and saw the smiles on their faces and also saw that they were holding each other's hand.
"Forgive me, Queen of Valora," The dragon said sorrowfully. "I had tried to save these two from this fate but… I was not quick enough." "You know, my son would always talk about the legends and stories surrounding you. He said that maybe the reason you chose to separate yourself from the people of Helios, was because you were unsure if you would be able to understand us." The queen said which surprised the dragon. She wasn't aware that the boy had taken such an interest in her. "He said that if he had the chance, he would want to meet you along with this girl. When he had first met her, he told her about how he wanted to meet you. At first he thought she would laugh at him like so many others children his age had, but she said that she would help him. This simple girl from our kingdom was the first one to accept his dream besides me." The Queen said as she looked at the girl who sat next to her son fondly.
"May I ask you a question?" the Queen said looking up towards the dragon. "Once you… erase this world, what will happen to you?" "I… will more than likely fade into the void along with this world." The dragon answered. "It was your people's prayers that brought me into existence, once you are all gone, I will likely fade away." "What if… it were possible for you to bond your soul with that of another?" the Queen ask the dragon. "While the thought has crossed my mind, it would present a problem. If I were to merge my soul with that of another that being would have to have a pure soul, plus there is also the possible that once my soul finds another that my personally will not be the same." The dragon explained.
"But, if I were to merge my soul with someone, I would like it to be someone similar to your son." The dragon said which didn't surprise the queen. "I thought as much, my son has always thought about others before himself, but he can be a bit over-cautious at times." The Queen said while laughing a little to which the white horned dragon laughed a bit herself.
The dragon then looked up to see the moon was still glowing a bright red.
"Queen of Valora, can you tell me the meaning behind that red moon in the sky?" the dragon asked causing the queen to look up at the sky. When she saw what the dragon was talking about, her eyes widened before looking back at her son and the girl next to him, a warm and comforting smile appearing on her face as tears began to run down her face.
"It's known as the Blood Moon, it appears every 667 years and whoever dances underneath it's light, their souls will be bound to each other for eternity." She explained while looking at the two young children fondly. "I see, so that is why these children look so at peace, they knew no matter what happened to them they would always be together." The dragon said as she gazed up at the Blood Moon as the wind blew gentle.
"It's time," the dragon said solemnly. "I see, even though it was brief, I'm glad I was able to speak with you and… thank you, for trying to save my son and his beloved." The Queen said thankfully.
The White Horned Crimson Dragon bowed her head in appreciation before flying up into the sky. The Queen of Valora sat up against the rock next to the two children and looked up into the sky.
"My son, it looks like you and your friend were able to meet the legend of our land after all." She said as she lovingly placed her hand on top of her sons head.
The dragon flew high into the skies of Helios until her back was now facing the blood moon. She then let loose a mighty roar that caused the ground to break apart and the very sky to tear open.
As the she watched the very world she created begin to fall apart, the White Horned Crimson Dragon thought 'If there truly is another soul out there like that boy, then… I can only hope my soul finds it's way to that one." She thought as she and all of Helios were consumed by darkness.

Marco Diaz is getting ready to leave earth again after deciding to go stay on Mewni, where his friend Princess Star Butterfly lives. As he was about the step through the portal after saying goodbye to all his friends, his mother grabs his shoulder to get his attention.
"What it is mom?" he asks looking back at his mother confused. " Marco dear, there's something I want you to have." His mother said as she went into the pocket of her skirt and pulled out a red crystal that was attached to a silver chain.
"A necklace?" "Yes, your grandparents gave this to me before I left for France, they said it would bring good luck and help protect me. So I thought that it would do the same for you while you're on Mewni." "Oh, thanks mom," Marco said taking the necklace from his mother and placing it around his neck.
Marco then hugs his mother and father one more time before grabbing his duffle bag and saying goodbye to his family and friends as he steps through the portal.
As soon as he's on the other side, he places his duffle bag on the ground and looks ahead at Butterfly castle in the distance. Unaware of the slight glow coming off of the crystal around his neck.
A/N: Alright, as I said before this story just came out of nowhere. I suddenly got the idea after reading a couple of stories where Marco turns into a werewolf or Vampire. But I didn't want to do the same so I thought outside the box and went with a dragon. Now Marco won't turn into a dragon, he'll be more like a dragon hybrid of sorts.
Okay that's all I've really got to say for now, See you around Guys ;)
