A/N: Another GG drabble-y ficlet. I'm not sure where this came form but I've been fascinated with Chuck's character the last couple episodes. He has been amazing. Based on Episode 2.14, you know the scene. Anyway, enjoy! R&R! Thanks! –Mac
Disclaimer: I don't own GG.
Ledge
Chuck Bass was completely and utterly alone. The pain of that realization spread like poison across his chest and through his veins—making him weak, making it hard to breathe, making it hard to even move.
He tried to dull the pain with drugs and alcohol and more drugs and more alcohol. But it never went away, no matter what he did.
He wasn't in control of himself, in control of his body. He couldn't think straight. That was what brought him up onto that ledge. He had no idea what he was doing—his life was off balance. He was off balance.
When he dropped the bottle, sending it spiraling down to shatter on the sidewalk below, his mind vaguely registered disappointment at the loss of his drink and confusion over what the hell he was doing. There was a moment when he genuinely considered stepping over the edge. He had nothing keeping him there, nothing to ground him to that spot.
He was so fond of rooftops, it was only fitting that he should meet his tragic demise off one.
Then Blair was there with all her words. He didn't want to listen, he just wanted her to leave him alone—like he felt, so alone. But the look on her face appeared to be pure terror—like she couldn't bear to lose him. Like she really cared. And her words matched that expression, so he couldn't help but believe them.
Then he suddenly felt sorry, so very sorry for putting her through that torment. He honestly hadn't believed he was hurting her. He thought it was better to push her away—but it wasn't. So he took her hand and fell into her arms. There was a warmth that began to spread, pushing away the pain to the corners of his consciousness.
There was so much he wanted to say but he only had the strength to say, "I'm sorry."
It's only fitting that Blair was the one to talk him down off that ledge. The one he had pushed farthest away, was the one to fight her way closest to his heart.
