Smile Baby, Cause I Love You

CHAPTER 1

Jen's POV

I was on my couch, watching Bridesmaids and eating popcorn. It was my normal Sunday night… without the perks of having Nick here. Ever since I left his apartment some night ago, he hasn't really talked to me. Finally, he decided to text me as soon as the Hungry Man commercial came on.

Did I do something wrong? It read. I rolled my eyes. Of course he did something wrong. He was drunk, and he called me stupid and started to kiss me when I didn't want his beer breath in my mouth. I thought about what I should say. Should I get angry at him and start a fight, which could lead to a breakup? Or should I lie and say NO. Either way, I could ruin our relationship. To be honest, I didn't love Nick as much as I used to. He had stopped going places with me ever since he got his new "bro" friend Jake on his side. So I made my decision. It was time I told Nick how I really felt. As soon as I grabbed my phone, however, Josh texted me. Hey! It's lonely without you… he said. I blushed. Right back at you, Hutchy. I replied. He texted right back. Hutchy? What kind of nickname is that? I laughed. Josh is hilarious, and he always lightens the mood. Yours. I said. He texted a smiley face back. I then went to Nick's text column. I took a deep breath. "Time to end your pain, Jen." I said to myself. I slowly typed: Yes, Nick. There is something wrong with YOU. Not with me. You just don't seem to love me anymore. Why should I go out with a man who doesn't love me? I think it's time we take a break Nick. I actually have other things to do than kiss you all the time. Goodbye, Nick. I sighed, and pressed SEND. I threw my phone on the couch and put it on silent. I only replied to my friends texts.

I was on my way to Hawaii to film Catching Fire, when I had a knock at my door. I had no shirt on. I put a see-through tank top on and rushed to the door. It was Josh. "Hey, Lawrence." He said. He stepped in. "Well, go camp in my house then." I said, laughing. He hugged me, which surprised me. He stroked my hair. I blushed, and my face turned rose red. "Hi, Jen." He said, sighing. I smiled and embraced his hug. "Hey, Hutchy." I said, giggling. He pushed me away from him and chased me. I laughed so hard, that while I was running I fell onto the ground. He threw me onto the bed and jumped on me. He looked me right in the eyes. I was really blushing now, and I also was sweating. He smiled. "Never call me HUTCHY!" he said. He then started tickling me. I laughed hysterically until he touched some sensitive spot right under my armpit. I pushed him off of me and poked his throat. Suddenly, I felt weak. I sat down and gasped for air. I didn't know why, but I started to cry. Josh stopped laughing and he rushed over to me. "You okay, Jen?" he asked, rubbing my back just the way I like it. I nodded, through tearful gasps. "The only thing wrong… is that I broke up with Nick…" I said. Josh grabbed my phone and scrolled through all of the Nick texts. He threw his jacket on. "I'm going to go teach him a lesson. Did you see what he said to you? That's not something you should say to anyone." He growled, while slamming my door.

Oh my god… Why am I feeling so fluttery? I shouldn't feel like that after what Josh did to me… it was just a friend thing. But I was flattered… no… I can't…. but…

I think I might be in love with Joshua Ryan Hutcherson.
