Long drabble-thing; it still hasn't found it's purpose in life so please be kind to it….
"What the fuck is all this?" Brian asked, eyeing the gaudy red, yellow and green t-shirts laid out on his bed. They'd been out of the shower a good ten minutes but all Justin had done so far was pull on a pair of jeans, lay out the t-shirts and stare at them as though waiting for them to suddenly jump up and do a dance.
"Has Emmett been giving you fashion tips?" Brian smirked, when the younger man stayed silent. And after being ignored a second time, he enquired politely, "have you been taken suddenly deaf?"
"Huh?" Justin asked, looking up suddenly as though only noticing Brian for the first time.
"Ah, welcome back to planet earth," Brian quipped. Then he waved a hand at the shirts. "What's all this about?"
"There's a party," Justin sighed.
"For breeders?"
Justin just nodded. Then, noting the raised eyebrow of the other man, he explained, "Daphne promised to tie my balls in a knot if I didn't go."
"I see," Brian nodded. "So what's with the garish colours?" He asked, looking back at the shirts.
"It's a traffic light party."
Brian just frowned. "A what?"
"A traffic light party," Justin repeated.
"And what the fuck is that?"
"If you wear red, you're taken and if you wear green you're single."
"What's yellow?"
"It's complicated," Justin sighed.
"I'm sure I'll understand."
"No, I mean…."
"I know what you meant," Brian cut him off immediately. He did not need to hear the explanation, he was already fed up of this conversation. "Breeders," he tutted, as he left the bedroom to watch TV for a while before heading out to Woody's. "Don't they realise that at Babylon everybody's single?"
"I don't think this party is being held at Babylon," Justin sighed, beginning to reach for the green shirt. He supposed Brian would go crazy if he wore anything else but just as he was about to slide it over his head, he heard Brian say something that surprised him.
"I always thought you looked good in yellow."
Justin smiled a little to himself. This was the first time Brian had suggested they weren't completely single. At least now he was willing to accept that it was complicated. He picked up the hideous yellow shirt and wore it with pride all evening. A few girls hit on him, a couple of guys too but Justin didn't care. He wasn't single, it was complicated and that was all he needed for now.
