Prologue,
Cold drafts came through the open window. A young woman curled up tighter. Her knuckles where white from being pressed so hard against her knees. A sudden jolt of joy sounded in her body. The tremors flowed through her.
It'd only been hours since she'd got word of her being promoted to a higher job. It had a better salary then her other job before.
She wrapped her hair around her slender finger. A song came to her head. She began to hum it. A lady's voice could be heard hollering down the hall.
"Sounds like Mrs. Down the hall is angry!" the young woman said in a tone that was loud enough to be heard by Mrs. Down the hall. A slender man with bright red hair, and freckles, came in. He sat next to the young woman. In a gentle voice, he said,
"Herm...you look cold." he wrapped his arms around her. She felt her anger leave her.
"The Potter's invited us to stay with them for Christmas. I'm planning to accept their offer. Is it okay with you?" asked the man.
"Yes Ron. Thad be great."
Hermione left the room to get her things packed, and prepare for the journey to the Potter's. She packed her best dress, and her make-up. But before she put her make-up in the bag, she applied some. Ron came into the room. He also got his bag. He began to pack his belongings.
"I'll be good to see Harry and Ginny. I've not seen them for a year or so." she smiled a gentle smile.
"I to am intrigued to have the opportunity to visit them. Christmas will be great."
Ron carried their baggage to the car. He packed it tightly into a corner of the trunk. He glanced down at his watch, and then said,
"Hermione...we need to get going."
Hermione swiftly climbed into the passenger seat. She buckled her seat belt, and glanced at Ron.
"Calm down. You'll get an heart attack!" exclaimed Hermione.
Ron only laughed. He quickly turned the car keys, and revved the engine. They sped off into the distance.
The city roads were jammed-full of traffic. Ron swore under his breath, as a yellow taxi cut in front of their car. Hermione studied the passing shops. The bakeries scents enticed her. The car gained speed. Countrysides were now passing by.
Night had fallen, and Hermione began to drowse off. She finally reached a deep sleep.
"Good light my love." said Ron.
He kept his eyes on the road. A small animal cut across the road. Ron's foot quickly pushed the brakes. Ron recovered from the sudden stop, and began driving at a moderate speed.
A small village could be seen in the distance. A large sea was visible. Houses passed by. Ron looked for the Potter's address.
"Wake up. Were here." Ron said gently to Hermione.
