Prologue:
ONCE upon a time, in a far away kingdom, lived a young prince. The country was prosperous and beautiful. And the peasants where want for nothing. To an outsider, it may have appeared to be perfect – a magical place even.
But the prince was spoiled. His parents had died, leaving him to rule at a young age. His subjects and servants granted his every wish, and so, he learned nothing of love and compassion. He cared nothing for others. He became cruel and the country began to suffer.
One cold winter's night, there was a knock on the castle door. It was an old beggar man, bent with age, seeking shelter from the bitter cold, and he asked his prince for some reprieve – although all he had to offer was a single rose.
The prince sneered at the gift and turned the old man away. But the beggar warned the prince not to be fooled by appearances. When the prince turned him away again, the withered frame of the beggar melted away, and in his place stood a proud sorcerer. His blue eyes, that usually twinkled with good humour, where cold and unforgiving as the prince tried to beg for forgiveness. But it was too late, for he had already seen that there was no compassion or love in the young prince's heart.
And so he cursed the prince. The sorcerer made the prince's handsome face resemble that of a snake, with pale skin, red eyes and a forked tongue. He looked of something from a child's nightmare. His servants where cursed as well, along with the rest of the castle.
The sorcerer then vanished, only leaving an enchanted mirror, with which the prince could view the outside world, and the rose. The rose, in fact, was an enchanted rose, and it would bloom until the prince's twenty-fifth year.
You see, there was a way to break the spell. The prince had until his twenty-fifth birthday to fall in love, and win the maiden's love in return, or he would forever remain as a beast.
The prince locked himself and his servants in the castle refusing to enter the outside world. And as the seasons changed, and the months went by the prince lost all hope. After all, who could love a beast?
Author's Note: Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed it! :) I'm writing again, and I might just pull an allnighter to write some more. Hopefully this means the end of my writer's block. (Wish me luck)
I realise how much the prologue resembles Beauty and the Beast and I admit, it's been done on purpose. The rest of the story SHOULD be more original. I just LOVE Walt Disney movies, esspecially this one and I couldn't resist doing some kind of crossover. Please review! And thanks for reading!
