I didn't think I needed you
But I need you now
Was so empty in me
To feel you crashing down
Into the empty world
The music stops
I want to rescue want to scream out loud
You will always be mine

Walking away from him was the hardest thing Elizabeth Bennet had ever done. He had looked so hopeful after that confession, but she couldn't do it, not again. How many times had she waited for those words and when they came all she could think was to get as far away as possible, her heart couldn't take it anymore. Growing up in love with your best friend does that to people. Her and Will had been so close, since the day she was born almost. They had gone through kinder, primary school, high school and university, through crushes, hormones, first loves and Will's manwhore phase together. If something was wrong they went to each other, they were so close people had started talking about marriage but neither of them had thought about it.
Until Lizzy had realised that yes, she was in fact in love with Fitzwilliam Darcy. It had started slow and she didn't fully realise until it was too late. He was engaged, happy, in love. With some someone who wasn't her. It was torture, the engagement ball, the dress fittings because of course as his best friend she had to part of the wedding party, the moment Will had confessed that he couldn't possibly love anyone else in the world. That was probably the last straw, really, the moment she truly comprehended that Will didn't feel anything but friendship for her.
The next day saw her at the airport with a one way ticket to Italy, a full suitcase and a promise from Jane to visit once she was settled. She was ready to board, to get on the plane that would take her to her new life of misery and loneliness when she heard a voice. It was him, running toward her like she had always dreamed he would, but it was too late. No words of love and comfort could possibly start to heal the scraps of her heart; it wasn't possible. She turned back and walked toward the departure gate.
Looking at the country-side below her, Lizzy tried to wipe away the tears.
"Goodbye Will."
