In the castle of Amarantha, in the city of Faywall, spiders laced the corners of the Viscount's hallways. The vines stretched their arms over the wintry sandstone as their thorns held them fast to the castle's petals. The floorboards moaned with the sound of the organ, while Arabella paced along the dance-floor that she had swayed with her partner on.
Arabella sought to the moon, questioning when the Viscount would return. As the rain pelted against the stained glass of the ballroom, Lucius had arrived. He marched through the entrance hall. His ivory militia uniform was tainted a foul shade of red, matching his short blonde tresses of hair. His light, delicate skin had been blemished with spots of sin. His face radiated innocence, however, on the ballroom floor; Arabella knew that this masquerade sheltered her eyes from a merciless killer.
Whilst pacing towards his ravishing Viscountess, he presented her with a pure smile and embraced her, apologising for his current state. He ran his fingers through her long brunette hair and found comfort in the warmth of her arms.
He missed her dearly; as the warfare continued with Midra, Lucius had to uphold his duties as a nobleman to the King, His Royal Highness Wolfgang. Only with returning home as his goal, he struck down any that interfered. Never-to-mind whether death was brought to them swiftly; Lucius was as ruthless as they come, no better than that of a serial killer.
He pulled himself away from Arabella's grasp. "My dearest, I have returned to you with words of fate, those spoken by witches." He exclaimed. "They gave Balthier and I their prophecies, I to become an Earl, then King hereafter."
"I wouldn't expect any less from you, Lucius. However Wolfgang is well alive; with Dante by his side I'm sure nothing could harm him." She pressed her lips against his. "Do not tempt me with such a thing." At that moment, messengers from the king had arrived to visit Lucius.
"A message from the King, regarding Viscount Lucius. Archaius was revealed as a traitorous snake, as of this he was sentenced to death for the attempted assassination of his royal highness the king. Prince Dante made short work of it." The messenger bowed to Lucius "King Wolfgang sent me to make word of your rank. As of now my lord, you are that of an Earl, and you of a Countess, milady." He bowed once more politely "If you would excuse me I shall leave."
Lucius looked to Arabella, the couple shocked. Arabella brought Lucius' ear to her lips and whispered "I will go to great lengths to become queen, if you are willing to stay by my side." Her words pierced through his thoughts, the notes her voice struck told him that the lengths Arabella spoke of, were strides that Lucius would dare not take. However, Lucius would do anything, as long as he could have Arabella by his side. With this, he knew her plans...he knew that they were to drive Wolfgang and his family into the ground and reign as King and Queen together.
As the sun rose to awaken the couple, Lucius awakened to the memory of Wolfgang requesting to stay the night at Amarantha castle. While telling Arabella, she had an evil smirk on her face. "Magnificent, the deed shall be done tonight. No exceptions. I'll deal with the guards, you deal with the murder."
"I-I cannot go through with this. Wolfgang is a dear friend and a wonderful king; I couldn't bear to think of murdering such a man in his sleep..."
Arabella raised her voice "Are you not a man of ambition?! Are you ever going to pursue greatness? Had I still had that child, I would snap it's neck and break it's ribcage if it meant becoming Queen." With this, Lucius knew the deed was to be done.
