A/N: A fun story with a funny pairing, and a few references to another good fic as well. I make a small reference to "A Mother's Song" in here, which is another hive story. I would recommend reading it if you have the heart to read a most likely never to be completed fanfic.

The cosmos seamed to shimmer brighter than any day that he could recall. Each star was like a diamond, and all hung from a thousand strings as some unknown god bounced and puppeted them in an illusory dance. They tempted him, as they had his forebears, and called him towards a dream unreachable. A dream which, should he take a moment to truly visualize within his mind, would not be one from which he could return. For the man was not in a place nor time in which stargazing was a plausible consumption of ones time. And his situation hammered down upon the fact. He still wished to dream now; of those stars and their seemingly infinite light. But she was here. To kill him; and then to rend those stars to fit her dreams of darkness. A darkness which she, not alone in power could, but alone in desire would control and weave.

"Such an oddity you are, little light." Auryx's cruel voice beautifully cut through his mind. All she was, to him, was a defiance to reality; a beautiful and bestial thing. A unholy goddess, and a divine leviathan.

"Truly, you have fought and tried so hard, little light. Truly, and I say this with more sincerity than I offer even my adoptive children, you above all have awed me." The Queen of the Taken spoke with her venomously honied tone, "You are made of such weak form, yet you have for a moment equaled me. You are a profit of a lesser power, yet it has quelled all but I, the darkness's true champion. You have murdered the child that I had reared and yet, I hold no ill will towards you."

"You have interested me, oh enemy mine. You have started that oldest ritual of the hive when you claimed your goal to control me as you slayed Crota; and you have thoroughly and impressively completed it now." Auryx continued, small and unsettling giggles following her victory speech.

"What... do you mean? What ritual have I done now?" the guardian responded, his energy spent, and form nearly limp against the rocky wall.

"You have asked for control of me and the hive, and then you have presented an offering to show your strength. To I, and any born to my race, that would be considered an act of courtship." The goddess responded, a sick inhuman grin splitting her horrifyingly beautiful face.

'Oh god. Oh please, for the sake of the light, don't be serious'

"Oh, but I am, and don't act surprised I can read your mind while in my realm. You have pleased me. For all of a total sum of ten minutes, you held me even. You did so with a sword you were not skilled in using, and in a world that belonged not to you in any way. That is more than any former courter of mine had gotten by tenfold." Auryx said, "And I must say, that I do enjoy a grand fight. When I make you my king, no doubt you shall crush all in your path. No doubt we shall devour the rest of the light in this dying solar system. No doubt we shall have young mightier than any born to your race of man or mine of hive."

Her arms were raised to the sky as the ever defiant man began to open his mouth, before she cut him off.

"I'll add another component to this offer for you; become my king, and I will not only spare your race, but leave some soldiers to guard them and revive the traveler. I can do that, you know" She said, her smirk growing smugger at the look of contention behind his cold helmet's full face visor.

'God, she holds every card here. I could defy her, but I doubt that that would do anything. I could mock her, but she most likely won't care. I cannot fight, as I am too injured. So I... I... I guess...'

"Fine. You win. As you always do." The guardian said, his voice the epitome of defeat, "Nothing ever changes about that, does it? Probably- No, definitely won't, now that I'm forced to join."

"Good choice, oh lover mine. I will show you wonders and pleasures no human could dream up within a millennia. Things that will make you question why you had ever wanted to cling to humanity and mortality." She proclaimed, "And things that will make you fall for me truly, oh King of mine. Fall for this dark dream, truly. Fall for this grand and mightier race, truly." Her tone dripped with a mix of subtle joy and mocking jest, but her look seemed to say that all she had proclaimed was indeed true."Oh king! Love me now! Breed me, my mate! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She joked, as she scooped the human up, not bothering as he fidgeted in her hands as she warped them away through a portal.

'Oh traveler, help me now. Lend me some strength please.' The poor guardian sobbed in his head.

'Oh love. You do not know yet how I yearn for you. You have shown yourself as being above all others. No one but you could hold the position of being my equal.' Auryx thought as she placed the human onto the gargantuan ritual table, 'Though, your looks aren't great. That, however is just a byproduct of being a human, and that fact will soon be remedied. So, no worries~! I am beyond sure that you shall be more handsome than any knight that has ever stood before me.'

Auryx began gathering the materials and setting the runes around the unconscious human. Multiple tablets filled with numerous runic sequences were placed into their slots in her personal ritual room. Four witches subdued and held the former worm of Crota, and three count as many began the chant to ready it for a new host.

"Today is a glorious day, is it not, my chambermaids~?" Auryx hummed out her rhetorical inquiry. She did not truly care for their answers, but wished to hear them sing praise.

"My Queen! It is the most glorious day, your mating day! No doubt the entirety of the hive will bare witness when you present your chosen, and no doubt all those intelligent will be happy for you. Though some may question why you had chosen a human..." A witch said from behind her.

"What was that?" Auryx said as she spun, though she continued to write runes upon her lover's body, "I thought I just heard you say that some will question my decision. Why, chambermaid, would... one of this position... question any choice that I was to make?"

The maid squirmed out, in hasty reply, "M-My lady! I was only forewarning you of how some may react! All choices have those you disagree!"

"So some of my race disagree with everything I say?"
"NAY! I meant that... not everyone... agrees... all the time?" The witch squeaked.

Auryx honestly found her reactions hilarious. She knew what the young witch had meant. Knew it from the beginning. However, she was always one for teasing. She turned around to face her soon-to-be King.

"Ha! The look upon your face was priceless! You have brought joy to me! I know some will question my decision. I will tell them to talk to my king first, though. Then I'll watch as he kicks their sorry asses." Auryx relived the young witch.

"Lady Auryx, the ritual is prepared on our end. How long until we should begin?" A wizard said as she glided towards he queen.

"In no longer than five pulses we will begin, Grand Deathsinger Ir Yut." Auryx replied as she finished the runes on her "fiance's" left leg "How is your adopted child, Ir Yut? Is Zol doing fine?"

"Why, yes, he is fine. He missed me while I was dead, and he misses me now as I'm gone. He has grown strong, however, and I have no doubt that he is proud that the experiments involving him are being used on his King. If it is a success here, it will be because we tried this on him first." Ir Yut answered, "I was so proud and happy when he came out of the ritual chamber looking just like his unfortunately deceased siblings. He was proud as well, when he saw he looked just like me." A few sounds of joy and acknowledgement of cuteness were uttered by the witches present.

"That is good for you. The runes are done now, however, so we should BEGIN THE RITUAL!" Auryx commanded as the witches and Ir Yut, along with herself, gathered around and began the chant. Power surged through them, and the runes on the guardian began to glow until the entire room was illuminated. Then the light died rapidly, replaced with shadows that began to consume his form, and begin its reshaping. The shadows twisted and hardened his flesh, it began to stretch his form larger and larger. The dark energy then began to completely cover him, and block his entire form from view. The chanting grew louder by the moment, growing into a cacophony of voices. The now former guardian began to scream. He screamed and screamed until, suddenly, he stopped. Then the darkness receded, then the chanting stopped, and the runes lost their glow.

Upon the table before the witches and Queen, sat a odd looking hive knight. His clean white armor, and slick red cloaking completely contrasting Auryx's own color palette. It didn't matter, though, to Auryx. She looked like the happiest woman in the whole galaxy.

"It WORKED!" She screamed, "MY LOVE WILL BE MINE FOREVER!"
