"Finn. Finn! Wake up!"

Finn slowly opened his eyes. Kurt was standing over him, dressed down for once in- shock and awe –jeans. "…buh?"

"Rise and shine," Burt sighed from somewhere nearby. "You're gonna get used to this."

Finn squinted at the clock. "It's two A.M."

Kurt nodded. "Yes. I'm being very reasonable, you know. The mall opens at four. I wanted to wake you up an hour ago, but Dad decided that you might need some more sleep for your first Black Friday shopping trip."

"Black Friday…?"

"That's right. Come on!" Kurt clapped. "Up and at 'em, Hudson! We've got Christmas shopping to do."

And so it began.

Apparently, the Hummels had gone Black Friday shopping ever since Burt and Kurt's mom got married. The tradition had never ended.

"Isn't this exciting, Finn?" Carole asked, grinning, when they were in the car. "I've never done this before!"

Finn murmured assent from his seat, his face pressed against the window.

The mall was flocked with people. Finn blinked at the crowd sleepily. "Are they all here for shopping?" He suppressed a yawn.

Kurt gave him a Look. "No, they're camping."

Finn's brow furrowed. "Why would they go camping in a parking lot?"

But he didn't get an answer, because that was when the doors opened. Kurt's hand wrapped itself around Finn's wrist, and he bolted into the mall, maneuvering through the sea of people. Finn stumbled after him, making sure to hang on so he didn't lose his stepbrother in the crowd.

Their first stop was a clothing store that smelled like perfume. Finn wasn't too sure how the shirts moved from the racks to Kurt's arms so quickly, but they did, and he was pretty sure Kurt was stepping on people's feet on purpose. Finn felt really bad for the cashier, who looked close to bursting into tears when Kurt argued that the price she charged him was too high. But he got his way, and a free pair of sunglasses to apologize for the error.

"You kinda remind me of Coach Sylvester," Finn remarked during one sprint to another store.

"I'm not sure if that's a compliment or a dire insult."

Eventually, they met up with Burt and Carole near the food court. "How're you doing?" Carole asked. She and Burt had at least three bags in each hand.

"Great," Kurt breathed, smiling ear to ear. "Finn's fantastic at getting people to move out of the way." He saw a store nearby and excused himself, handing his bags to Finn.

Burt smirked fondly. "I don't know how he does it, but if he doesn't finish all of his Christmas shopping today, it'll be done by Monday."

There were sounds of a fight from the store Kurt went into.

Carole shook her head, awed. "Your son is a marvel."

Finn saw Kurt wrestling a scarf from some woman's hands. "Uh."

Burt followed Finn's gaze and nodded. "Huh. I think he's gone soft. He's usually kicking by now."

Kurt finally tore the scarf away and held his arms up in victory. "Wow," Carole said softly.

Burt shrugged. "You should've seen his mom."
