Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN INU-YASHA!!! NEVER!!! NOT ONCE- well, okay, once, but that was before he got a lobotomy, anyhow, onto the fic! The first chapter's kinda short, but that's because it's more of the prologue. Okay, this fic takes place after Kagome catches Inuyasha and Kikyou kissing in the forest in the Japanese TV series. But there's a twist. What would happen if Kagome never came back?

Higurashi Kagome ran, not caring where. Tears streamed down her pale face as she skidded to a halt near an ivy covered well. She braced herself with one hand as she leapt over the edge, back into her world.

A soft thump was heard as the girl landed on her hind side. She couldn't care less though, her hands were clenched in futile rage as tears poured out her chocolate-tinted eyes. She shook softly as she climbed out of the well, ignoring the broken sack that lay at the bottom of it. She walked slowly out of the shrine doors, and methodically walked into the house. A gust from the night air whipped in through the open door that Kagome neglected to close. Her tear-stained face stared at the quiet house, a glazed look appeared upon her features. She walked up to her bedroom, slowly, and shuffling. A metallic click was heard as she shut the door, careful not to wake slumbering family members. And as the school-girl flopped down on her bed, she lapsed out of consciousness, a single picture echoing in her mind. Kikyou..........

"Kagome!!! How long have you been home?"

Kagome groaned and sat groggily up. She fumbled for her alarm clock, and lethargically moaned. "Three hours."

"Oh. Okay, I'll let you get some sleep then." Her mother said, quietly closing the door. Kagome stood wearily up, and pulled away her blinds. The sunlight shone through, dancing inside her room. A sudden shot hatred filled her soul, as she slammed the blinds back into place. She flopped down on her bed, shoulders shaking in silent rage.

"That ass!" She muttered thinking of a certain hanyou. She grabbed her pillow and proceeded in knocking the stuffing out of it. Unwanted tears streamed down her face as she let out a sigh of frustration, and sadness. Her entire body shook uncontrollably as she broke down. "That ass......."

Inuyasha, stood, unmoving, feet planted firmly on the ground. He still remembered the look on Kagome's face; her broken, caring brown eyes. "Kagome........" He whispered. He remained motionless, watching the figure assimilate with the night. A few minutes later, two figures came rushing towards him.

"Inuyasha, what did you do to her?!?!" Sango demanded, outraged. Inuyasha remained silent, even under the steady gaze of Miroku. Realization dawned on Sango as she as she brought her hand down, striking the hanyou 'cross the face.

"Baka." She said quietly, rage seething within. "That girl poured out her heart to you, and this is how you repay her?" Sango gave him an icy glare, before storming off.

"She's right, you know." Whispered Miroku. "You broke that poor girl's heart, and this time, she's not coming back."

Realization set in on the hanyou, and his heart was wrenched in two. "Kagome..........."
