Draco looked at his parents in something akin to disbelief. His parents had never forced anything upon him and had given him everything he wanted.
Well… Until today. They had the idea to sign a marriage contract. With Pansy Parkinson, the annoying, pampered princess that constantly obsessed and fawned over him. He was displeased to say the least.
He stalked out of the room in anger, forming a plan in his head. This was not going to happen. They apparently were supposed to court each other for a minimum of 18 months before officially becoming engaged.
They had to be married by the time he was 18, so in possibly what was an attempt to spare him, they waited until the day after his sixteenth birthday to drop the news. He considered it one of the worst birthday presents of all time.
Probably the most infuriating thing about the situation was that of all the acceptable, pureblooded females out there, SHE was chosen. There were many more girls, that were a lot less obnoxious. But no, they just had to choose Parkinson.
For months, while he was forced to court Parkinson, he attempted to figure out a way to void the marriage contract. Every day he slowly was driven more and more insane. Parkinson was obnoxious and it took all of his self-control to even act the slightest bit politely towards her. Unfortunately though, his resolve was quickly fading.
Although she didn't show it, he suspected that Parkinson wasn't too thrilled about the arrangement either. He swore that she spent more time looking at her reflection in the mirror than talking to him, although that may just be her vanity.
One day, in his anger over the entire situation, he snapped. Looking back on it, he didn't regret the decision, although at the time it was unwise. He kissed her.
That may seem normal, but in arranged marriages it isn't. After they are married, they are expected to produce one male heir, and after that, many of the never kiss again. It is especially uncommon in cases such as theirs, in which they both didn't want it.
But Draco needed something that would make their relationship a bit more interesting… And he succeeded.
