Laughter and Lies
By MorbidCheshire
Their laughter echoed around him,
cruel, mocking. They reveled in their social superiority, condescending to him,
lowest of the low. He had fallen for their trick as he had fallen for her, she
the betrayer, ever leading him on into their trap and knowing it. Knowing of
her treachery and enjoying it.
And the laughter went on, ever
louder, his tormentors gleeful in their victory.
And he, always the victim, always the weakling they took advantage of. The unimportant speck no one noticed until they needed someone the vent their insecurities on.
Anger and pain ate away at him like acid, acid fed to him through her laughter and lies. It ate away at his sanity, his compassion. He would never allow her to hurt him again. Never again would he show love or fear to anyone. Never again.
The laughter would stop. He'd make them stop. They would cease to mock him, torturous and cruel.
Never again.
((A/N: Okay, a little more dramatic than I've heard it described in the comics, but I thought it was an interesting idea to use.))
