"Kurt, you are perfect."

"No, I'm not! Okay! Sorry that I've been hurt by assholes. Sorry that Neanderthals have threatened to kill me. Sorry that I'm terrified I might not escape this place. I act like I know I will, but what if I don't?"

"Kurt-"

"Sorry I have pear hips. Sorry that I sound like a girl. Sorry that I'm not beautiful. I'm not. I have no muscle. Oh God, what if they don't want a man so feminine in masculine roles? What if they need someone with actual sex appeal like you?"

Wind. Shaking trees, grey skies. Normalcy polluting the place. The dumb, small, normal, meaningless cow town that everyone loathed.

Kurt loathed it most of all.

The one bench in the park rattled against the wind. It wasn't exactly sturdy, but oh well. It could barely take the weight of the distressed star and the sweet gentleman.

Blaine was losing his brain, he was sure. How? How could he think all of that? He wanted to deny what Kurt said about himself, but he knew that would fail.

An idea.

A brilliant idea.

Serenades fix everything.

A Capella serenades are the best.

You know the sun is in your eyes,

And hurricanes and rain,

And black and cloudy skies.

"Want me to continue?"

Nodding.

Gentle, loving gazes.

Serenading works, people.

It wasn't his usual serenade, it was softer, more sentimental. Emotions rushed through him as the special song for his special man came to a close. Passion clung to the words and to his voice, the performance so meaningful to both of them. Tears formed in his eyes. He let go.

He had picked the perfect song. They could get through Lima together.

(Plus, it's ironic because of how much Kurt loved the musical Wicked.)

And if you've got no other choice,

You can just follow my voice,

Through the dark turns and noise of this wicked little town.

The last note was a little bit choked from the tears, but the serenade as a whole was beautiful and moving.

"Oh, and by the way?"

Kurt was bursting out in tears, but it was okay. They'd be okay.

"You are damn sexy. Trust me."

The adorable princess laughed a tiny bit through the tears at his amazing boyfriend.

"You are officially the best boyfriend ever."

Lima had hurt Kurt, but he wasn't broken. They were okay. Comforted. Safe.

"One day, you'll escape this wicked little town, Kurt. And I'll be with you. And you're safe from Karofsky now. You'll be okay."

Kurt's tears were still there, his throat was raw, but he held his head up high.

They'd escape the prison that their town was,

leave the prison of the innocent, the prison of homophobia and hatred…

They both knew it.

It was so comforting.

Falling into a strong, sweet kiss, they had loving desires and drying tears.

Their love will help them both through this wretched cow town.

Everything would be alright.
