Courage
A crashing sound rent the filthy air.
The Hero stepped forward to find the source,
And out of the ruins of his lair,
The Gerudo king came forth.
0
The Hero's hope disappeared,
For this evil man he had slain,
But here he was, and the hero feared
He would not be able to defeat him again.
0
His eyes glowed with an evil rage;
The Triforce of Power upon his hand.
With a blinding glow he became
A beast twice the size of a man.
0
His giant swords, the gruesome monster thrashed
As he made a horrible, piercing sound.
The Hero raised his arm to keep from being slashed.
The Evil-Destroying sword fell, stabbing into the ground.
0
The man who killed his guardian, the man he thought he slew,
The man who caused him pain, though he was just a boy,
And destroyed his former life and the things he knew,
Now mocked him with his false death; killing the Hero he would enjoy.
0
The Hero became filled with anger.
His anger gave him strength.
Despite all the terrible danger,
He fought with fury, and ignored the pain.
0
He knew he had the courage, so, using his biggest, most powerful sword,
Forged by the mighty, but peaceful Goron on the mountain's top,
He fought and fought, frightened screams he ignored.
He was failing, but his pride and anger wouldn't let him stop.
0
He felt he could not go on, when he again heard a frightened scream.
He turned, and saw the Princess outside the fiery wall.
As he looked at her, and saw her fear, to him it almost seemed
That in her eyes, the fear of all her people he saw.
0
He then realized he had been as the evil man himself, insane
With anger, vengeance, and hate.
He put away the misused giant's sword, and drew the Blade of Evils Bane.
He now cared not for his own revenge, but for his precious land's fate.
0
He fought with a power greater than the last,
Fighting for the sake of the Princess and her land.
The beast's power was failing, for the Hero held fast,
The ancient blade singing in his hand.
0
The wall of fire fell, so the Sages made the Princess's power grow,
For now the time had come to use that power on the beast,
And told the Hero to lay the final blow,
The evil monster to defeat.
0
He thrust his sword, and, although the end seemed near,
The King of Evil he did smite.
He now knew that true courage was not just to cast aside one's fear,
But to cast aside revenge, and do only what is right.
