Dan was, and always had been, your best friend. Your relationship with him was purely platonic although you'd be lying to yourself if you said you hadn't thought of maybe having something more. Today was Thursday. For as long as you can remember, Thursday had always been movie day with Dan, and today was no different. His flatmate Phil was back home in Manchester attending a wedding meaning you and Dan were alone together.
"Come on Dan PLEASE can we watch this?" You beg waving the DVD in front of his face.
"But The Little Mermaid it's so… so... Girly"
"It's a Disney classic!" You splutter "you should educate yourself."
"Why don't we just forget about a movie and play a game instead?" He bargained waving his ps3 game in front of you.
"No way! I am not playing one of your stupid violent games."
His jaw dropped.
"I'll have you know, The Last Of Us is an incredible game! The story is perfect and the graphics oh (y/n) THE GRAPHICS. At least it has some merit to it unlike an animated film about singing fish."
You glare at him and sigh. "Fine let's race. Whoever gets to the TV first and gets either their game or DVD in the PlayStation or DVD player wins."
Dan pondered this for a moment and then nodded in agreement. "The price for the loser?" He quizzed.
"Loser has to suck it up." You answer simply.
You and Dan position yourselves at the other end of the room to make it a fair race. Clutching the DVD in your hand you have never felt this determined about anything in your life. 3..2…1
You run across the room dodging the obstacles Dan throws at you to try and slow you down. You feel his arms wrap around your waist and pull you to the floor but you stretch out your arm just enough to push the DVD into the slot. The DVD screen flashes up on the TV.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Dan groans pressing his face into the carpet.
"Suck it up Howell." You grin grabbing the remote and navigating your way through the menus.
You sit next to each other on the floor, Dan looking like he is losing the will to live as you sit there serenading him with the lyrics and reciting the dialogue word for word. As the movie progresses, you notice Dan starting to get closer and out of the corner of your eye, you notice him looking more at you than the film. But when you look at him, he quickly averts his eyes back to the film.
On the screen Eric and Ariel are sitting in the boat and the song begins to play.
"OH MY GOD" You grab Dan's arm a little too tight. "THIS IS THE BEST BIT YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS"
"I will if you allow the blood to flow through my arm again" he jokes. You let go and feel your heart flutter as the opening notes of Kiss The Girl begin to play.
There you see her, sitting there across the way, she don't go a lot to say but there's something about her
The song begins to reach its conclusion and you sigh. "I really, really love this scene but I hate how it's ruined by those stupid eels. I wish he'd just kiss the girl."
You look at Dan to see his reaction and suddenly his hot wet lips are on yours. You panic and push him away.
"What the hell Dan?!"
"You always say you wish he'd kiss the girl"
He leans in and kisses you again.
"I just did." He whispers.
