I've received several inquiries as to why I haven't posted any of my fan poetry at this site. The answer is that I don't really know why. So I'm posting just a few of my old favorites here, while I wait for my muse to get back to work. Comments are always welcome, as are new fanfic friends.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from "Starsky and Hutch." I do occasionally borrow them, but never with fraudulent intent or with an eye to monetary gain.

The episode is "Bloodbath." The POV should be obvious.

Madmen and Poets

By e-pony

I dreamed of an end

That was a beginning.

I dreamed of a race

The time clock was winning.

I dreamed of a star –

From the far, eastern sky –

Caught like a fly

In the web I was spinning,

And of one lonely paladin,

Desperate and pale,

Jousting at shadows

In quest of his grail.

xxx

I dreamed of a sunrise,

Bloody and frightening.

I dreamed of a slaughter

At the morning's first brightening.

I dreamed of the knight

Madly pursuing his course,

Astride a red horse

Forged from steel and lightning.

I dreamed the First Kingdom,

Was purged of man's stain

By the dark, cleansing blood

Of a warrior slain.

xxx

Only madmen and poets

See truth in their dreaming,

Divining the future

From visions and seeming.

But only madmen and gods

Devise fate through their scheming.

xxx

I dreamed of a plan –

Vengeful, deceiving.

I dreamed of compliance

Among those believing.

I dreamed that the hero –

Clad no longer in white –

Wept in the night,

For dishonor and grieving.

And I dreamed of a heaven,

From inside my own hell,

Of the world I would build,

Beyond the walls of this cell.

xxx

I dreamed of a beginning

That ended too soon.

I dreamed my own death

Before the new the moon,

For who could envision,

At death's scheduled hour,

Two souls with the power

To wreak a god's ruin?

Now, I wait, and I watch,

And I dream my demise,

For the dream is the truth

In the madman's eyes.
