Disclaimer : I don't own House.

Snapshot, sometime during Season 3. Cameron's getting thinner, deeper. House's thoughts.

------

I've noticed her already thin frame getting thinner, her lean muscles eroding. Her eyes keep sinking further and further back, and her lips seem too big for her less-than-prominent jaw line. Something's wrong, but she's just as argumentative and sickeningly morally upstanding as ever, so I can't call her on it.

Cameron's wasting away, but it's as if she doesn't realize it. There are moments, granted, when she looks angry, or scared, or insecure, but she always had those moments. Ever since I first hired her, she's had her own little private thoughts that I just want to smash open. But those private little thoughts have gone deeper than whether her dry cleaning is going to get screwed up, or whether I have a little crush on her or not. She's getting less transparent, less easy to peel.

Which is extremely, endlessly annoying.

She has deep, lengthy staring contests with the carpet, or the window, or whatever object in the room is moving the least. She's a little more conniving, a little angrier, but still, I can't figure out why.

It's an anomaly, but it isn't a good one. It's one that continues, day after day, to get more and more irritating.

She makes the coffee in the morning, pushes her ideas until we inevitably have to test for them, and cares about the patients until she's blue in the face. Everything she did before. But something in her face is more complex, more deep, less happy. As if she's never had a day of fun in her life, which she has, I'm sure, at some point; at least one, if the meth episode with Chase counted. I won't say it impressed me that she did that, but it did add a level of interest.

She keeps getting thinner and thinner, and there's no difference in her except that and a little extra agitation.

She's getting complicated. More complex. And, I won't lie… more attractive by the day.
