I thought it would be a good idea to write about what happened to Stoick after he died, how he adjusted, whether he got to see Hiccup become Chief and stuff, that kind of thing. Now, the disclaimer.

Disclaimer: I do not own How to Train Your Dragon 1 or 2 nor do I own any of the short films, the tv shows, books, none of it.

Stoick yawned as he sat up in his bed. He got up, the wooden boards creaking as he walked towards his kitchen. He began making breakfast before calling for Hiccup. When he got no response, he walked to where the stairs should have been but weren't.

And that's when the memories came flooding in.

"Don't!" Hiccup yelled. Stoick ran, his heart pounding as he raced towards his son who was backed into an icy wall as his beloved dragon got closer and closer, a wild look in his eyes.

"HICCUP!" Stoick yelled as Toothless got even closer. Hiccup screamed for the Night Fury to stop, but his begging fell on deaf ears. "SON!"

That's when Hiccup noticed his father. And when it dawned on him what Stoick's plan was, he stretched his arm out as though he could have stopped the chief.

"Dad! No!"

Stoick dropped his mug as he fell to the floor. He had left his son….his wife….his friends and dragon…..the dragons...Stoick got up as he remembered Drago Bludvist and what he had done.

He was dragged out of his thoughts by a knock at the door. When Stoick opened it, he saw a young(ish) woman with her blonde hair streaming from under her bronze helmet that matched her bronze full body armor.

"Hello, Stoick the Vast. My name is Hildr. I am your Valkyrie, the one who brought you to Valhalla," Hildr said. Stoick nearly laughed. He was dead and was talking to a Valkyrie. He gestured for Hildr to enter his room (which looked just like the bottom half of his house) and sat down on a chair. "I'm sure this must be confusing."

"It certainly is, but I have a more important matter to discuss. My wife and son. Are they alright?" Stoick asked. Hildr smiled softly before nodding.

"Yes, they are. Quite an amazing son you have. He beat Drago. Gothi named him chief. Actually, the dragons named Toothless chief as well. All your family and friends are safe, as are the people of Berk.

"Why does that not surprise me? Sounds like Hiccup," Stoick said. He was so relieved he almost forgot about the Valkyrie. Until she began talking again.

"You should be very proud. Dinner begins in an hour. I'll come retrieve you. Until then, you should rest" Hildr said as she left, leaving Stoick to ponder his thoughts in silence.

As Stoick got up to look around, he noticed some slight differences. Instead of stairs, there was a very large cupboard filled with weapons of every kind. And there was the portrait of Hiccup and him from Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Young Man (Season 1, episode 8 of Riders of Berk). As well as the wedding portrait of him and Valka on their wedding day.

And the last portrait was of the three of them, when Hiccup had just been born. If he had known then what the future would bring, Stoick couldn't decide how much, if anything, he would change.

While he would miss his family and friends, Stoick was glad things had worked out the way it did. His son would get to bond with his mother as chief, he'd marry Astrid (whom he was very impressed with), and Berk was safe.

So he would get used to Valhalla. And wait for the day he saw his family again.

AN: Just wanted to write about Httyd and I thought this would be a good idea. Kitkat Out!
