All Those Characters Challenge: Character Used – Dennis Creevy

"Colin?" Dennis cries. The room isn't completely black, but the lighting is dim, and 13-year old Dennis is having difficulty seeing. Unfortunately, Dennis's glasses are broken so the only thing he truly sees are blurred shapes.

"Is there anyone there?" Dennis doubts it because he doesn't hear any movement, but the silence is still deafening to a very scared Gryffindor.

Dennis stands up on wobbly legs and puts his arms out, feeling around for a wall. He shuffles forward until he comes in contact with a hard surface. Then he slowly walks, using the wall as a guide. He hopes to find a door and get out of here before anything happens.

After what feels like a millennia, he finds something that feels like a door frame and pauses at it. He feels around for a doorknob, but there isn't one.

Dennis squints and moves closer to the door-like thing so he can get a clearer look at it. It is a door like Dennis expected, but it's a door without a doorknob.

"What kind of door doesn't have a doorknob or any way to open it?" Dennis asks out loud, but of course there's no answer.

He feels in his robes, but his wand doesn't make an appearance. Tears build in Dennis's eyes, and he does his best to push them back. He's a Gryffindor which means he's brave. It's time he starts acting like it.

He moves so he's on the wall next to the door, so when it swings open Dennis doesn't get hurt. Because it will swing open. It will swing open really soon. Dennis is sure of it.

He slides down the wall, his back to the door, so he resting comfortably against the hard surface.

He tries to remember how he got here, but he draws a blank. All he remembers is walking outside of the castle, and then nothing. Maybe he got hit in the head? But then wouldn't have someone seen that and then gotten help before Dennis ended up here? Or maybe someone did see it but wasn't able to get help fast enough.

He sighs sadly. He knows he'll have people looking for him. Colin is surely on the case by now, and his big brother is very determined. Colin won't rest until he's found. Dennis is positive about that.

He feels tired and decides to take a nap. There's nothing he can do to get out of here anyways. His eyes drift close. He doesn't even notice the mist that is enveloping the room, so lost in his drowsiness.

Unfortunately, Dennis never wakes up. The mist suffocates him in his sleep.

When he's finally found, with the door being charmed opened, it's by Colin and Auror Kingsley Shacklebolt. Colin runs to his little brother and shakes him, trying to wake him up, but Kingsley is more methodical.

Kingsley realizes Dennis is not breathing and pulls Colin away, trying to protect the boy from the truth, but Colin realizes the truth.

He screams and falls down to his knees. "No! No! No!"
