Stand in the Rain
In a severe rain storm like this, you would have assumed that everybody would be indoors, waiting for the storm to end. Everybody in the town, but oneā¦..
She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone,
feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear,
the tears will not stop raining down
A young girl stood outside in the middle of the road. One would assume that she'd be run over and such, but no one was out their in the dark storm. The girl looked like she was in her teens, around sixteen. She was a pretty sight, despite her wet (and rather ragged looking) hair and clothes. Presumably her wet face was caused by the rain, but you would then be wrong.
Streaming out of her eyes, were drops of water, almost identical to the ones falling from the sky. They both were falling uncontrollably and mercilessly. The girl restrained from making a noise, her efforts causing her face to show the pain.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, what's lost can be found
You stand in the rain
She won't make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears
whispering if she stands she'll fall down
She wants to be found
The only way out is through everything she's
running from wants to give up and lie down.
"It's so unfair!" the girl thought, with her hands on her temples. Her dream boy, whom she treated nicely and got along perfectly with, had chosen her, another girl their age.
They were complete opposites, yet he wanted her rival for everything that she didn't have. Her rival was "attractive", a "gym acrobat", and supposedly kind, talented, and intelligent.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, what's lost can be found
You stand in the rain
"After all we'd been through, and all the things we did, he chose her over me" the girl said out loud. She necessarily didn't care about her little out burst though. She knew that no one knew where she was and wouldn't care enough to go looking for her in this weather.
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
Stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, what's lost can be found
However this thought didn't distract her from her pain. It was worse than anything she had ever experienced before. It was a big gash in her heart and soul, not literally, of course, but her pain told her otherwise. She put her hands over her heart and started crying even more.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, what's lost can be found
You stand in the rain
She then felt a warm, comforting hand on her shoulder.
"What the?" the girl thought as she frantically turned around.
There, was her dream boy. He gave her a hug and whispered something in her ear.
The girl backed up startled. The boy reached out towards her. She slowly reached out and grabbed his hand, trusting him once more.
Together they headed back home with the rain storm over and the sun setting as it was before.
