A Problem with Closets

The six year old Dwarfling groaned and dropped his head in his hands. His elder brother banged on the door for the hundredth time before plopping down next to his dark-haired companion.

"This is entirely your fault, Fee." Kili said. Fili shook his head.

"No, this is your fault. Tell me, exactly who the one to shut the door was?" Seven year old Fili said and Kili glared at him, but Fili could not see it because it was so dark in the closet Kili had managed to get them locked in. The only light to be seen was what shone through the crack under the door.

They were the only living creatures in the simple home in Ered Luin except the large orange cat that was sleeping on the rocking chair. Dis, the boys' mother, had gone to her brother's forge to ask him a question about something and had been gone longer than expected. Fili and Kili got bored and had decided to play hide-and-seek and Kili hid in the closet. When Fili opened the door, Kili was scared so badly that, for some reason unknown to all free peoples, he had shut the door, which had gotten locked.

"Well, you're the one who scared me out of a year's growth." Kili grumbled and Fili shot back, "You don't even grow that much, so ha!"

"Take that back, you worthless bogger!" Kili was not too sure what a bogger was, but Fili did not seem to like it.

"Don't call me that!"

Kili made a face although he knew Fili would not be able to see it and said, "Bogger."

"I'll make you eat your words!" Fili yelled as he tackled Kili over onto a dusty pile of something-or-other. Kili squirmed then saw there was no way out from under Fili as his brother was a good deal heavier than he was, so he decided to stall.

"You can't make people eat their words, Fili. Words are air." he said.

"That's just a…" Fili started to say, but stopped when an idea made its appearance. He removed himself from atop his brother and took some of the something-or-other that turned out to be a piece of paper and, reaching into one of Dis's coats, pulled out a bit of coal. Using the coal he wrote on the paper: "Take that back you worthless bogger" turned to Kili who stared at him.

"Uh, Fili what are you going to do with that?" Kili asked, feeling slightly nervous.

"I'm going to make you eat your words. Now, we can do this the easy way or, little brother, we can do this the hard way." Fili responded calmly. He began to across the closet toward Kili. Kili bit his lip and crawled backward until his back was against the closet wall.

"F...Fee, you're not serious are you?" Kili asked, but Fili just smiled, and in the feeble light he looked like an Orc to the panicking young Dwarfling. When Fili stopped right in front of him, Kili did what he had to do, he kicked out with both his legs while hissing and spiting like the cat when someone steps on its tail. Fili lost his balance when trying to dodge Kili booted feet and toppled over. Kili had not met to hurt Fili and covered his mouth with his hand when his older sibling fell, his eyes widening when a terrible thought hit him. What if I killed him?!

To his relief, Fili got to his feet and faced his brother. This time Fili did not just smile at Kili, this time he slowly approached Kili seeming to glow with a kingly aurora and in that moment Kili looked upon his brother with awe for Fili truly was a son of Durin, and in that small space of time, he appeared to be the heir of Thorin II Oakensheild.

"Alright Kee! That does it!" Fili said and pounced on Kili. Kili opened his mouth to shout and suddenly a piece of paper was shoved into his mouth. He chewed dutifully on the paper, but as soon as Fili's back was turned, he spat it out.

A/N I hope you like :D Please review. And Fili says the first person to review gets a reply from him so I guess I'll let him do that and the next person Kili said he would answer! #lucklypeople
