Hey, guys, I know this is a really short and suckish oneshot, but I just wrote it so I could warm up for the next chapter in my fic The Bet, since I haven't written in a long time. Anyway, feel free to review.

Disclaimer: What I wouldn't give to own the Marauders, but sadly, I own nothing.

James Potter reached into his pocket and pulled out a worn piece of parchment. On the floor of the 1st year Gryffindor boy's dormitory sat Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, all wide-eyed as they watched James unfold the paper.

"I hereby call to order the first official meeting of the Marauders. I will now commence roll call. Black?"

"Aye."

"Lupin?"

"Present."

"Pettigrew?"

"Wait, what?"

"I'll take that was a here."

"Now, we all know we formed the Marauders for a sole purpose. To fight for those who can't fight for themselves. To protect those not born to pure wizards. To fight for the common good!" James declared, throwing his head back dramatically.

"Wait, what?" Peter asked, eyes wide.

"In other words, we're gonna kick the Slytherin's sorry buttocks." Sirius said, his eyes hard.

"Oh. All righty then!"

"If it's all right with the Marauders, I'd like to share an experience of mine." Remus said softly.

James nodded, sat down and gestured to Remus to stand up. Remus got to his feet and took a deep breath.

"The other day, I was walking down the hall by the library-"

"Wait, we have a library?"

"Yes, Sirius, we have a library. Now, as I was saying, I was walking down the hall by the library when-"

"Where is this so-called library you speak of?"

"By the Great Hall, now may I please speak without interruptions?"

"Fine, fine."

"OK, I was walking down the hall by the library when I heard a yell. I ran down to see what was happening, but Madame Pince was already there. A 3rd year Hufflepuff girl was lying on the floor, unconscious, bleeding from the head. Madame Pince had me run to get the Headmaster. I'm not supposed to speak of this, Professor Dumbledore instructed me not to, but I heard him say to Madame Pince that someone had attacked the girl with powerful Dark Magic, most likely because she was Muggle-born."

A shocked silence filled the room. After a few moments, James spoke.

"You see, mates? This is why the Marauders exist. Because someone needs to fight for the common good. Everyone's always talking about how someone should stand up for Muggle borns, but no one ever does. I'm sick of waiting around for someone to make a difference. I'm sick of waiting on the world to change. We're someone. And, if my gut feeling is right, we're going to make our mark on Hogwarts history. Now, who's ready to go make a difference?"

There was an enthusiastic affirmative, then the room fell silent.

"Uhh…now what?" Peter asked nervously.

"...Let's go to the kitchens. You can't change the world on an empty stomach!" Sirius said cheerfully.

James and Peter lept to their feet and ran out the door after Sirius, leaving Remus alone in the room. Rolling his eyes, Remus stood and headed after his friends. However, before closing the door, Remus glanced out the window at the moon, which was almost full.

"So this is what having friends feels like." He mused, the moon illuminating his pale face. With a soft sigh, Remus closed the door and ran after the Marauders, turning his back on the glowing moon for the first time.
