Disclaimer: I do not own Calvin or Hobbes.
Er...this is my first Calvin and Hobbes fanfic. I simply love those guys XD It might not be that good...so...yeah...
This is the story of a boy and his tiger...
It was a crisp, cool, fall evening. Calvin and Hobbes were a few blocks away from their house, lying on a big, grassy hill. They were gazing intently at the stars and were in silence for some time.
"Hey Hobbes," Calvin asked, turning his head to face his friend.
"Yeah?" the tiger said, also turning his head.
"Do you think that this will last forever?" the young boy asked, looking back up at the twinkling stars. Hobbes frowned in confusion as his ears twitched.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, we've changed a lot-"
It was true. Over two years now he had Hobbes. Everyone changed. Their parents changed. Suzie changed. Even Calvin and Hobbes changed.
"-and now I'm going into second grade-"
That was also true. Calvin was nervous, because his mom said that he was getting too old for plushies.
"-what if sometime we get split apart?"
Hobbes stared at him and a pondering look crossed his face. He gazed back at the stars and smiled lightly. Shaking his head, Hobbes replied,
"We can't be split apart."
Calvin frowned. "Huh?"
"Because, if we're apart, we are not 'we'."
"I still don't get it," Calvin mumbled, furrowing his eyebrows. "Let me rephrase my question. What if we can't see each other again? What if someone takes you away from me?"
"It can't happen," Hobbes answered, his smile turning into a wide grin. "We'll always be together. Even if I'm gone or you're gone, we're still together." He smiled reassuringly at Calvin.
"We'll always be together?" the young boy asked. "But how-" He was silenced when Hobbes placed a paw over his mouth. Calvin looked at his tiger friend.
"Stop asking so much questions. It's making my head hurt," he joked, placing his free paw on his head and rubbing it. "Tonight was supposed to be our peaceful night. Then tomorrow we go and do even more adventures!" Hobbes laughed brightly and placed his arm around Calvin.
'I just don't have the heart to tell him,' Calvin thought sadly, giving the tiger a forced smile. 'That tomorrow is the first day of second grade for me. And...tomorrow is the day that he has to leave.' Sighing inwardly, Calvin returned his friend's hug and smiled lightly. 'At least we should spend our last night together and peaceful.'
And so, the two best friends laid under the stars, spending their last night together in silence.
Woo that kind of sucked. I wasn't too fond of the ending. It was...bleh. And AUGH I was hoping to make this cute, not angsty. BTW, this is a drabble one-shot. I'm not doing anymore, SO DON'T ASK FOR AN UPDATE!!! Um...I don't know what else to say...OH YES! You'll all have to wait about four days until I'm going to update any of my other stories. I'm going to be traveling for 5-6 hours on an airplane, going back across Canada, then I'm going to spend the next days sleeping, and then I have on day of school! Only one more week of school for me!! YAY! Then to Grisbach. PLEASE UPDATE!!!!!!
