Chapter 1
"Go on, Chuck…tell us" Peppermint Patty insisted, pushing Marcie on the swings.
"Well…I'm going to be hosting a sleepover tomorrow night and…well…I…" Charlie Brown quivered nervously.
"A sleepover? You're hosting a sleepover, Chuck?" the tomboy questioned in amazement.
'Yeah…I've never done this before and…it's kind of…maybe stressing me out," he explained.
"Charles, I'll be there," Marcie answered happily. "Anything to get away from my parents, even if it's for just one night" she told her friends.
"Still stressing?" Patty questioned with a chuckle.
"Yeah…" the bespectacled girl sighed, her smile beginning to fade away.
"Chuck, this sleepover might help my little friend here get over her pressure; I'll be there too, you know…to keep an eye on her" the freckled girl reasoned.
"Sure" Charlie Brown answered to his rowdy friend, their hands nearly touching.
"This sucks!" Marcie commented.
"What does?" Patty and Charlie asked in unison as their hands parted ways.
"I just remembered: I have violin lessons, dance lessons and swim practice tonight…sorry but, I won't be able to make it" she explained.
"She gets really tired after a long night of lessons and practices," Peppermint Patty whispered to Charlie Brown. "She also is usually out like a light the day after"
"I'm sure that a sleepover will be a great way to meet new friends, Linus is bringing Mary Jo with him, and Lucy's bringing Charlotte Braun," he told his rough friend.
"Charlotte Braun and Mary Jo? Pretty sure me and Marcie never met them" Patty answered.
"Oh, almost forgot: Schroeder's bringing over his new friend, Jordan" Charlie explained.
"Oooh! A boy?" Patty asked, swooning as she pictured a tall boy with muscles and a slick hairdo along with some deep cuts and scars.
"He never said so" the lovable loser responded.
"That sounds interesting, Charles" Marcie explained.
Charlie Brown blushed as he tapped the bespectacled girl on the shoulder.
"Yeah, Charles?" she asked.
"Do you think you'll be able to stay awake tomorrow?" he questioned.
"Yeah, I'll be able to keep awake tomorrow night, especially if there'll be a 'Jordan' there" she responded proudly with a faint blush.
"Oh course, Marcie, of course" Patty chuckled, "but for one night, don't call me 'Sir', okay?"
"Okay!" she replied.
Charlie sighed as he looked at his friends. He wanted Peppermint Patty to have fun; but he also wanted to make sure Marcie could have fun with the kids as well.
"Think, Charlie…how can you help them?" he asked himself, scratching the top of his head.
