Scared

Summary: Josslyn hadn't been so scared since Morgan's death.

Josslyn's hands shook as she poured herself a glass of water, uncaring of her red rimmed eyes or messy hair. It had hurt seeing Oscar after he'd received the first trial. She was trying to be strong, trying to believe that loving him could save him. Inside though she was terrified. She knew there was a possibility that the trials wouldn't work, that he could still die. She knew that there was the possibility that it could take away the time he did have left. If that happened, it would be all her fault.

"Josslyn?" Carly asked, stepping into the room and immediately putting a hand onto her daughter's shoulder. "Are you okay?"

Josslyn hastly swiped at her eyes and turned to face her mother, fake smile etched onto her pink lips. "I'm fine, mom." She tried to assure her

Her mother frowned at that. "You don't need to lie." She said, smoothing a hand through the teen's hair. "I know how scary this has to be for you."

She shrugged and took a sip of her water. "It's harder for Oscar. I mean, he's the one who's going through these trials."

Carly frowned and hugged her daughter to her. "That doesn't mean it's not hard on you, Josslyn. You're allowed to be scared, baby."

Josslyn seemed to wilt at those words, immediately sinking into her mother's arms. "I haven't been this scared or confused since Morgan died, mom." She confessed, turning her head so her mother could see her tear filled blue eyes.

The older woman's breath caught in her throat at her daughter's words. "Oh, honey." She said, hugging Josslyn tighter and letting the girl bury her head into her shoulder. She cared little of the tears soaking through her shirt as she ran her hand through her child's tangled hair. She didn't know what to say to comfort her daughter. She knew her daughter had reason to be scared. There wasn't a one hundred percent positive outcome for these trials. Just because Oscar had chosen to go through with them didn't mean it would work and Carly didn't know what she'd do for her daughter if the worst happened.

"Since finding out what's wrong with Oscar, why he ended things with me and then Kiki's murder...I've been dreaming of the night Morgan died." Josslyn confessed carefully, pulling away from her mother to gaze down at the floor, hair framing her face like a curtain. "The night that he died, I knew something was wrong. I could feel it. I couldn't explain it, though so I tried to get back to sleep. And then I heard your scream and I just...I knew."

"You never told me that." Carly said in surprise, wondering how she'd never noticed.

Josslyn shrugged and wrapped her arms around herself protectively, whirling around to go and take a seat on the sofa. "It never came up. I never brought it up because it scared me. And then I began to think that Morgan died because of Uncle Sonny and I just...I couldn't process losing him. I was so hurt and angry. He was my big brother and I adored him. I still miss him everyday. I never thought I'd have to go through this pain again. That sounds so stupid, but Oscar, Kiki, and Morgan are all so young. What did they do to deserve this?" She began to sob openly, throwing herself into her mother's arms once again.

Carly embraced her daughter once more, resting her cheek on her daughter's head and letting the tears fall from her own eyes.
