It was the day before Valentine's day, and the Great Hall was decorated in pink, red, and white confetti. Floating hearts flitted around the ceiling; girls were giggling, and boys were groaning. Ahh, the day of love might be stressful, but the day before is a nightmare. Let us tune in to a riveting conversation, between some mature young men, shall we?
"You know...Sirius looks at Remus, the same way you look at Lily, James..."
James spit out his pumpkin juice, and stared at Peter in shock. Suddenly, he grinned.
"You had me there for a minute, Pete. Don't play around, while I'm drinking. I just wasted like a gulp of perfectly good pumpkin juice!"
Peter shook his head.
"I wasn't joking."
James wrinkled his nose. "Well, than you're just off your rocker."
"You know, when you look at Evans your eyes turn 'sorta glassy, and you're face gets all red like you have a temperature...and you cross your legs for some reason?"
James blushed, and glared at the boy.
"So, what's your point?"
"When Sirius sees Remus, his eyes turn glassy, but then they go all shiny. His face gets red, too, and, come to think of it...he crosses his legs,too..."
Peter began to stare off into space, and James gasped.
"Peter, do you know what this means?!"
"Um...um...I-I...", the boy sighed. "No."
James hit him upside his head. "Then why didn't you just say, 'no'?!"
Peter rubbed the back of his sore head, as Sirius came running towards them, laughing.
"What's so funny, Pads?"
Before Sirius could answer the rat, Remus came storming up to the Gryffindor table. Placing his hands on his hips, he glared at the animagus.
"Sirius..."
Sirius grinned up at the werewolf.
"Yes, love?"
Peter, and Remus didn't bat an eyelash, at Sirius' extremely affectionate nickname. The boy constantly flirted with Remus, though the Marauders knew that he was only joking.
Although, the stag suspected that Sirius wasn't doing it completely out of humor, now...
"You stole my chocolate bar!"
"No, I didn't."
"It's in your hand!"
Peter and James looked to see a Choco-loco behind the dog's back. Sirius had the decency to look guilty.
"Sorry, Rem, I need it."
Remus raised an eyebrow, in disbelief.
"Need it for what, exactly?"
Sirius mumbled something incoherently, and James gasped. Peter and Remus shared a look.
"What? What did he say?", the rat asked.
"He, er...", James hesitated, as Sirius glared at him.
"Prongs, if you say anything-"
"I'll do your Potions' homework for a week.", Remus cut Padfoot off.
"He said he needed to know what chocolate you like, so he could get you some for Valentine's Day, tomorrow!"
Peter nodded in realization, before going back to his breakfast. Remus stared at Sirius, yet seemed lost in thought. Sirius, however, was looking down at his shoes, blushing to his ears. James bit his lip, and watched the two of them, feeling only slightly guilty. After, a few more minutes of silence, Sirius put the chocolate down on the table, before abruptly standing.
"I think I'll just-"
"No!"
Remus had panicked, not wanting Sirius to leave. To stop the dog, he had grabbed on to him around his neck, and Sirius had wrapped his hands around his back, so that Remus wouldn't fall, leaving them in a loving, yet awkward embrace.
They could care less.
"I..."
Remus began speaking, but bit his lip.
Lily cooed quietly, from down the table, and James and Peter jumped.
"They're too cute.", she whispered to her friend.
Hannah nodded. "They're also completely oblivious."
Remus cocked his head to the side, and sighed.
"I prefer Chocolate Cauldrons, to Choco-loco."
Sirius gave a relieved laugh, before winking at the boy.
"You got it, gorgeous."
And for once, Remus blushed.
