A short family!Fluff. This hiatus is really killing me, I need my favorite show back! *sobsinthecorner* 5 days left folks!
They are waiting for Gold to arrive in front of the Public Library. The clock is almost at noon, the tension is almost unbearable.
Snow hands Emma her bag - which was packed, unpacked, then repacked for 3 more times by the brunette earlier - and almost feels unbalanced without it.
"Hey," Emma says with a pale smile. "It's gonna be okay. It's just a few days. We'll be back before you guys notice."
But Snow doesn't look her in the eye and keeps turning her ring, which Emma knows is a sign of a massive amount of stress.
When Gold finally arrives, Charming gives him a look right away.
But it's more like a promise. A promise that Gold's threat works vice versa. It's clearly showing in the father's eyes that if anything - anything - happens to Emma, there's nothing on earth that could stop Charming. No one messes with his little girl. Not even an immortal and powerful imp.
"Are you sure you've got everything you'll need?" Snow asks, twiddling with Henry's bag now.
Emma knows words won't clam her down - she doubts there is something that could achieve that miracle to begin with. Then it suddenly hits her. She knows exactly what she needs to say - and she wants to say it. She wanted to say it a long time ago now, but she never found the perfect moment to do it. But now, this is it.
"Hey," she makes her mother meet her eyes and with an honest and bright smile she says, "we will be fine, mom. I promise."
And no matter how stressed Snow is at the moment, she can't help but let a wide smile sneak onto her face, and starts giggling like a maniac.
When the car passes them with Gold, Emma and Henry, they both wave as long as they can see it.
Charming's tired gaze turns to his wife and notices that she's smiling. "What?" He asks, slightly confused. Snow turns to him, widely smiling
"She just called me mom for the very first time." And with that she jumps into Charming's arms.
This parting somehow became bittersweet, but Snow doesn't mind it, not even the least bit. From now on the only thing that will keep her going is the longing for the moment when that car crosses the town line once again.
