She laid there nose deep in her studies with a furrowed, confused expression across her face. Helpless, a she sighed in defeat and folded her head onto her arms, spacing off into the distance. Across from her Chara walked forward, staring down at her with a half-amused expression across her face.
"Math being difficult for you?"
Frisk nodded absentmindedly.
"Here." Chara stepped forward and placed a single piece of chocolate on the desk, her favorite name-brand candy bar. Frisk took the piece and fiddled with it between her fingers before finally plopping the morsel in her mouth, sighing once again and burying her face deep into her arms.
"Chin up Buttercup." Chara leaned over and began to rub her friends shoulders, her fingers digging into Frisk's thick purple hoodie.
"You don't understand, I'm completely, one hundred percent lost." Frisk exclaimed in a whine. "I don't even know what I'm doing wrong, I don't even know where to begin with this."
Chara nodded along listening, continuing to rub her friends shoulders. Frisk groaned and looked up.
"You are so so lucky that you don't have to do this." She finished lamely, Chara's skilled hands quickly working out, at least a part of her stress.
"Well I'm not sure if I could do this, just think, when you learn this stuff, you will be the first in our family to know how to do it. You'll be our little math nerd." She exclaimed happily, ruffeling Frisk's fluffy hair.
Frisk perked up a little, and a slight smile found her face. "Well that's very encouraging, but I'm still not sure how this is suppose to help me."
"Hmm..." Chara hummed, resting her hands on Frisk's shoulder. "Would if help if I sat with you? I might not be able to help much - but that doesn't mean I can't keep you company."
Frisk blushed lightly, scrunched into her hoodie, and started chewing on the cuffs of her sleeves. "If you don't mind... I think that would help."
"Of course I don't mind." Chara replied, "I enjoyed spending time with you, and if that also means I can somehow help you get an awesome education at college, well, that sounds like win-win to me."
Frisk grinned shyly, still chewing on her sleeve, and grabbed her pencil while waiting for Chara to circle around the table and sit across from her. Once she had done so, taking a quick glance at her friends ruby-red eyes, she pulled the math book closer to her and tried to make progress on her assignment.
Chara watched her for the first few minutes, studying her features. Cute little face littered with band-aids. Scrunched up little nose (a red band-aid on this.) And almond brown eyes. She thought to herself, "She's a really cute person." but grew bored and, stealing once of Frisk's #2 yellow pencils, began to doodle a picture that started as a flower but ended up being of Frisk, hunched over a table depicting large numerical expressions squeezing into Frisk's mind. She would later show Frisk this, and they would share a laugh, Frisk secretly amazed by Chara's mediocre drawing talents.
