The idea for this one came from a Review "request". Normally I wouldn't have written this, with all the other projects I have, but Michelle's review made me laugh and I got a few ideas for this.
The only reason why it took so long to write was because I got distracted by my other projects.
Michelle wanted to see Trellis going crazy over wondering if he was going to be a good parent.
I got him as crazy as I could.
Emily led Trellis to their bed and sat next to him, making sure he was away from the edge so if he passed out again it would either be backwards onto the bed, against her, or into the pillows. "Are you sure you're okay?" Just ten minutes earlier he had fainted when he accidently overheard Emily was pregnant.
He nodded weakly, "I was just surprised." He didn't say anything else for a little while, "Emily, I don't know how I'm going to do this."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm not going to be a good parent," he turned to her, "I didn't exactly have the best parental figures. I won't know what I'm supposed to do."
"I won't either. That's normal for first time parents."
He didn't look convinced. "Emily-"
"Trellis," she said his name firmly and a little sharper than she had intended, "If we need help we can always ask Mom or if we have to we can ask Lugar."
Trellis frowned, "We're not asking him. We'll have a better idea of what to do than he will."
Emily smiled, "Exactly. You're going to be a better father than you think."
Well…. That did reassure him, to an extent….
He relaxed a little, "Do you know if it's a boy or girl yet?"
Emily shook her head, "It's too early to tell what they are."
Trellis stared, "'They'?" He fell over onto the floor.
"Trellis?!" Emily crouched down next to him.
Navin, who had been passing by the open door, stared. "So much for keeping him away from the edge."
"It could have been worse," Lugar said, giving Trellis an ice pack, though he was talking to Emily, "There could be more than two or you wouldn't have told him until they were born."
Trellis glared at him, holding the ice pack against his head, "It isn't funny." It had been decided it would be best for him to sit at the table. He turned to Emily, "It is two, right?" Lugar was going to try turning them against him, wasn't he?
Emily nodded.
Trellis smiled. "That's good." He got up.
"Trellis…" Emily said, reaching out.
"I'm fine," he walked towards their room.
Navin turned to Lugar, "He's lying, isn't he?" His question was answered by Trellis's muffled scream. Emily got up and left.
"He just needs some time to adjust."
