Blazing Fires

To the lyrics of Deftones-Change

I watched you change

Into a fly

I looked away

You were on fire.

Harry lay down on his bed and stretched out, sinking into his thoughts. Things had changed so much over the past few days. The hidden feelings and emotions he had felt for so long were like a blazing roar, a burning desire. His mind was reeling, quickly being overcome with sensations outside of his control.

I watched a change

In you

It's like you never

Had wings

Now you feel

So Alive.

In his dream, he floated through an imaginary world. Everything was upside down. The Muggles were in cages, the Dark Mark was over every house, and fires were everywhere. A voice rang clear in the confusion and chaos and it beckoned Harry to fall.

As though the voice had control over everything, Harry fell to the ground, faster and faster, and slammed hard into the dirt. Harry miraculously survived, probably the first indication for him to realize it was all a dream. Shrugging it off, Harry walked to the destroyed house in front of him. Like all of the other houses around it, this one had a Dark Mark over it. Harry rushed up to the front door, or where it would be, and felt a pang of sadness and terror when he came upon a sign that read "The Burrow."

I've watched you change

I took you home

Set you on the glass

I pulled off your wings.

Then I laughed.

Harry rushed through the Dream Burrow, searching for anyone. The inside of the house was on fire, and Harry had to avoid the licking flames to make his way to the stairs. Who would he check for first? Ginny and Ron, Fred and George, then Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. The last two could probably find their way through this.

Rushing to the first landing, Harry flung the door to Ginny's room open. Closing the door and blocking out the fire, Harry turned and with a gasp, collapsed to the ground.

Standing right there in the Burrow was Voldemort. Trembling at the other end of his wand was Ginny. Beautiful, amazing Ginny. The fire from below floated through the floor and set Ginny's room on fire. Harry was shocked to see how gorgeous Ginny was in the fire, the orange and yellow flames casting a shimmering aura around her face, making her look like the symbol of everything good and innocent. With Voldemort there, though, Harry could do nothing at all.

I look at the cross

Then I look away.

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" Voldemort shouted. With a final breath, Ginny fell to the ground. Even in death she looked pretty. Harry had to do something. He lunged for Voldemort, knocking him to the ground. Harry beat on his face, feeling every pent up feeling erupting in a massive volcano of anger.

Harry stopped suddenly and looked to what he was beating. Voldemort was not below him. Ginny was the person he had blindly forced his anger upon. Voldemort appeared behind Harry.

Voldemort said the Killing Curse again, pointing the wand at Harry, and a green light rocketed towards Harry.

Give you the lungs to

Blow me away.

With a start, Harry awoke from his dream, sitting straight up and finding himself in the Gryffindor boys' dorm. It was all a dream. Throwing on a set of robes, he rushed down the stairs and into the common room.

Sitting there with a book in her lap was Ginny. Beautiful, amazing Ginny.

As Harry came rushing down the stairs, Ginny set the book aside and got up. Before she had both feet set below her, Harry had dove at her and they both landed on the couch.

"HARRY! What are you doing?!" Ginny squeaked in confusion.

"What I should have done so long ago." He raised his lips to hers, meeting together in what should have happened many years before.

Now you feel alive

I've watched you change

It's like you never

Had wings.
