Single Fragment

It was when I was on the verge of death—when I was so close to taking that last step—that something so fantastic that it caught the world's attention was revealed. The doorway to alternate dimensions—practically, not actually—was invented. The I.R.C., the Infinite Reality Capsule, is the invention of a decade—nay, a century! The I.R.C. allowed one to experience a world made up of letters, numbers, and symbols to be experienced as they would real life, if not a better life than they already had. The I.R.C. didn't care if someone was blind, or if they couldn't walk, or if they didn't have arms—it didn't even care if someone was color blind—the I.R.C. input a combination of chemicals—safe ones—and electrical impulses into a capsule, in which a person would lay—or so this one article said. And, even with all of this amazing stuff that was already released about the capsule, the company that created the I.R.C. gave us one last piece of knowledge about their product—the would be a time dilation! So, even if you worked a full time job, you could still get in the time to actually play the game. Though it seems like twelve hours in the game equaling one hour in real life would be a bit overboard, it makes a little bit of sense.
This new invention saved my life, but it was the next announcement, six months later, that would change how I lived. This was the day that "Single Fragment" was announced.
Single Fragment would be the very first VR, or Virtual Reality, game that would be made. There were hundreds of millions of people who had no idea about the back story of the game—who even still wished for it—but then there were people like us—the people who were into Anime, Manga, and other forms of older entertainment like that—that reveled in the knowledge that we had about the game and, also, in the fact that many people, like myself, would get the release from societal pressure from this game. This anime that the game was based off of was One Piece—one of the longest released mangas in existence, right along with it's anime, which was also the longest aired.
At the age of 31, in the year of 2025, after years of depression, I grinned a massive grin.
AN: This is only a small prologue to give all of you a little bit of info, so I haven't really gone that far into it, but I hope y'all find a piece of it at least semi-interesting. Prepare for an info dump in the next week or so-I have college to attend, so don't get your hopes up.
