The Prisoners Heart

.

This thing you humans call a "Heart"

Brings you together, and rips you apart.

.

There's no physical evidence for me to perceive

So there's no further reason for me to believe.

Why do you insist that it still exists,

In a place as harsh and cruel as this?

.

This stone cold exterior is not a mask,

To break through it is not your task.

I stole you here, it's clear as day.

In this concrete prison you wither away.

.

So for what reason do you pursue me?

Is it to escape from reality?

That day I ordered "Come with me."

Your future shattered, can't you see?

.

As silk and sandpaper should never touch,

Our lives contradict just as much.

You are the sun, and I am the moon

Our love is a forbidden tune.

.

As I fade to dust; I failed my task,

I reach out to you and ask.

"Woman, are you afraid of me?"

"No" is your answer, it sets my soul free.

.

Ah, I see now. I understand.

I held her heart right in my hand.

My own heart, I will never find

for mine is hers, and hers is mine.

A/N: I'll admit that poetry isn't exactly my forte. In fact, I suck at poetry. I'm horrible at grasping those implied meanings, feet, beats, and other such things. (How the heck am I supposed to know what the fudgesicle an anapestic tetrameter or iambic pentameter is?)

Despite the fact that most mechanics of poetry are absolutely ridiculous to me, I wrote a poem. I was forced to write one for Creative Writing class. I figured if I was going to be forced to do something I hate, I might as well make it about something I love, so I present to you, my first real poem I have ever written. I was surprised to find that this little UlquiHime Piece turned out better than expected.
