The Engagement
This is a fic I wrote about Edmund and a girl in my fic "Stuck in the Future". Yes, this is about Ed and Lise's engagement in Narnia.
Narnia: 22 December: 5th Year of Peter the Magnificent
King Edmund was dancing with Lady Elizabeth Summerfield. It was no surprise, really. But that was because they had been courting for nearly five years- since she was seventeen and he was eighteen.
"Lizzie, can I ask you something?" Edmund asked her when everyone was dancing, and no one would possibly notice if he went in private to ask Lise this question.
"Sure, what is it?"
"Well, you kind of have to follow me." He led her up one of the towers and to a balcony. Lise noticed a small trunk on a table, but didn't think much of it.
Edmund picked up the trunk (as I have mentioned, it was very small, maybe enough to fit only two gowns), and turned to face her.
"Lise, will you marry me?" he opened up the trunk and Lise saw a Narnian engagement gown (in emerald green) and matching cape, both of the Narnian style and with gold trim; a gold Narnian royal engagement tiara set with several large emeralds and small diamonds; and a gold engagement ring set with a princess-cut diamond.
"Oh, yes! I will!" Lady Lise exclaimed.
Edmund smiled.
"I was hoping you'd say that." He slid the ring on her finger, and took the gown out and handed it to her. "You change into it, it's a Narnian engagement gown."
"I know, Eddy." She took the gown and smiled. "I'll meet you back here in fifteen minutes." She turned and went into a spare room.
When she came back, she had the gown on. Edmund placed the tiara on her head, and placed the cape around her. She was wearing emerald green slippers with several emeralds in them, already, and looked completely like royalty. Edmund stepped back to look at her.
"What?" Lise asked.
"Nothing, you just look beautiful."
"Thank you." She walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.
"Let us go announce it," Edmund decided.
"Let's," Elizabeth responded happily.
So they walked down to the throne room where High King Peter, Queen Susan, and Queen Lucy would surely be by that time. When they saw Lise there were different reactions. King Peter smiled at his younger brother, Queen Susan gasped in pleasant surprise, and Queen Lucy happily exclaimed, "Now I shall have another sister!"
When everyone was recovered from the pleasant surprise of the engagement, King Peter told them they must tell the people, who were n the ball room, dancing.
After the announcement was made, the people of Narnia cheered for three things. The first was of course because the king was to marry. The second was because of the fact that they knew Elizabeth would be a good queen. And the third, and final reason was because, it appeared the youngest king was finally happy.
