England woke up to the sound of thunder and a soft knock on the door. He sighed as he sat up and called for the person at the other end to come in expecting it to be Canada. He was surprised when little America's head popped into the room.

"Alfred come into the room properly," England said and America obeyed, "Now what did you want?"

"Um…" America said quietly. England could tell that he was on the verge of tears, "I- I was wonder-" Another clap of thunder shook the windows and America tensed in fear and England could here the little colony's soft crying. England got out of bed and went to scoop America up in his arms.

"It's okay Alfred," He whispered trying to calm the younger, "It's just thunder, nothing scary." There was another boom and America clutched on to England and buried his head into his neck. England chuckled and started humming, before he started singing America's favorite lullaby,

"You are my sunshine my only sunshine

You make me happy when skies are gray

You'll never know dear how much I love you

Please don't take my Sunshine away."

It was not long before America had fallen asleep in England's arms. Not wanting to wake Canada by taking America back to the room that they shared, England crawled back into bed with his little colony his, snuggled close to him. More thunder sounded outside and America flinched a little and England started singing softly again until he too fell asleep.

"Arthur!" Alfred yelled to be heard over the sirens as he ran through the house. He had come to visit England to talk battle strategies, and he was searching for the older nation franticly before the bombs started dropping.

"Alfred this way!" England called and he and Alfred ran outside and down into the bomb shelter just as the first bomb dropped in the distance. Arthur cringed as the bomb mad impact into the land. The bombing lasted minutes though to Arthur it felt like hours as he felt each bomb meet its target. By the end he was in tears for the pain and fear of his people.

"Iggy?" Alfred's voice sounded distance as the noise outside quieted.

"I- I'm fine," England said shakily. A plane flew over and he cringed and another tear ran down his cheek. Before he knew it he was in America's arms and the younger country was whispering to him.

"It's okay Arthur. I'm here," America's said softly, "Remember when I was coming to you during thunderstorms, you were always comforting me." England was about to push the other off when another plane sounded above and sent him cringing to his old colony burring his head into his neck.

"Hey it's okay," America cooed, and then he did the one thing that had always calmed him down when was scared. He began to sing softly to England.

"You are my sunshine my only sunshine

You make me happy when skies are gray

You'll never know dear how much I love you

Please don't take my Sunshine away."

"I love you Alfred," England murmured as he finally started relaxing into America's arms.

"And I love you Iggy," Alfred said and he continued singing until England's eyes got heavy and he drifted off to sleep with America right behind him.
