Summary: post-ep drabble for 6x14.
Simply unfair
And here it is the blow to your gut, it takes your breath away, your eyes glass over with tears and the news comes so fast that your face doesn't have time to catch up and you're still smiling.
You put everything on the line for them and it's all for nothing. But even though your already barely holding it together heart is breaking into even tinier pieces you know that you'd do it again in a heartbeat. Because damnit this kid had the fucking Sloan nose and that meant something. It means something!
You don't even react when Callie leads you to the couch to sit, your eyes are fixed on the disassembled crib that you bought, you were excited, you were planning a life. This was your second chance, your chance to make it right and in the end it didn't even matter than Lexie had left because you were doing the right thing, for once in your life you were thinking about someone else first, for the first time in your life you had a family. But it seems that you should know by now that family by blood isn't always the best thing. Callie actually proved that earlier when she offered to help you because you sorta were already a family. You will never be able to tell her how grateful you felt in that instant, but you guess it doesn't really matter now. There is no reason now to make this offer, it's gone. Sloane left like she had come, a hurricane leaving nothing but despair and destruction behind her.
You don't know how long you sit there, in your living-room with Callie by your side, being silent. Because really what else could she say? What words would you find comforting, what words could appease you? You don't think there are any, you don't need to hear she's sorry, you don't want to hear that it'll get better with time. That's what she said when she learned that you and lexie were no longer you and lexie. And really it didn't help, you just had other things to focus on while, now you have to wonder what on earth you can focus on. You have no kid, you have no girlfriend. Your mind is reeling to think on someone to focus on, something that will completely take your head away from this room with the empty crib.
Sex used to do the trick, although after what happened in LA with Addison, you know it won't cut it now. You can be in denial all you want and decide to hit on other women, you know that lexie has ruined you for random sex and you want to curse for that because she doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
It was simply unfair.
a/n: i'd love some feedback, since this was my first time writing something other than CSI: NY.;) i hope you enjoyed this little drabble.
