Something Worth Fighting For 2

A month after Ben's coronation. Lonnie had invited Jay to her home so that he could meet her parents and he wouldn't lie. He was nervous.

Lonnie sat next to him as they waited in the parlour and she smiled before holding his hand,

"Don't worry. Just try not to steal anything and you'll be fine" she teased and he smiled nervously,

"I'm more worried about their reaction when they discover the identity of my father" he told her and she smiled gently before kissing his cheek,

"I didn't mind and if they have a problem then… They'll just have to learn and live with it" she said and he couldn't help but smile.

Jay stood respectfully when Lonnie's parents entered the parlour and was stunned to see a small dragon resting on her mother's shoulder who looked at him distastefully,

"Your daughter's taste in guys is disappointing girl. You were a better looking guy than him" the dragon said earning a glare from Mulan,

"Quiet Mushu" she said firmly before she smiled at Jay,

"Welcome to our home Jay. Lonnie has told us so much about you" she said as Jay shook Shang's hand politely before smiling awkwardly,

"I… I'm afraid she didn't tell you everything Mrs….. Mulan" he said awkwardly and Shang looked concerned at the boy's nervousness,

"What else is there to tell?" he asked and Mushu folded his scally arms,

"Oooooooo I'm sensin' this boy has some skeletons in his closet" he said earning him a smack on his head off Mulan and Jay shook his head quickly,

"Oh no nothing like that… It's just… My father" he finished and Lonnie stood by his side as her parents looked confused,

"Who is your father?" Mulan asked gently and Jay sighed before looking at them guilty,

"The former sorcerer Jafar" he mumbled and Mushu's eyes widened,

"Oh that's it DISHONOUR!" he yelled but Mulan grabbed his snout before he could breathe fire at the boy. Shang looked at Lonnie firmly,

"Is this true Lonnie?" he demanded but Lonnie stood tall before nodding,

"It is but I don't care" she told them,

"He's the best guy I've ever known" she said before hugging Jay gently and he hugged her back with a gentle smile. Shang had a firm, unimpressed expression but Mulan looked at him gently,

"You learned to trust me" she told him gently and after a moment before wrapping his arm around his wife's waist and sighed before looking at Lonnie,

"As long as you're happy… The we're happy" he said and Lonnie smiled brightly as Shang shook Jay's hand once more,

"Welcome to the family Jay" he said with a smile.
