Your name is John Egbert and you have just made a stupid mistake.
You are standing under the canopy in front of the library after checking out quite a few books about the art of pranking{not that you need them}, and when you came out, the books under your left arm, you see that it's pouring rain, and you have no umbrella, not even a raincoat to shield you and your newly checked out books from the cold and wet.
"Great," you mumble to yourself "what am I supposed to do now?"
Then behind you the library door opens and out comes Rose, a neatly organized pile of books under her right arm, as she sees it's raining, she takes a perfectly pink umbrella out of her fetch modus and equips it in her left hand. Rose is always so prepared.
Rose looks over at you, suddenly noticing you were there too. "Don't you have a way to keep dry John?" she asks, her eyes shifting to the books piled under your arms, then back up to your face.
"Oh, um… not exactly" you tell her, looking at your feet in slight embarrassment.
"Oh, well you might as well come with me then," she says, beckoning you over "I pass by your house on my way back every time I walk home from the library"
"Thanks Rose," you say, running to take cover under her umbrella "I owe ya one"
Rose shrugs, then starts walking, you hurry to keep up with her, grabbing the umbrella handle, you grasp her hand underneath yours, you hope she doesn't mind. You look over at her face and she doesn't seem to. Actually, she seems to be… no it couldn't be, you swear you saw her blushing, just for a moment… nah, it must have just been your imagination.
You and Rose walk in silence, it soon becomes too quiet for you so you decide to start up some small talk "So, uh Rose… what kind of books do you have there?" you ask her, looking at the tidy stack of three books resting underneath her arm.
"Oh, these?" she asks "Well this one is about the history of knitting," she taps the purple covered book, "This one is about how to do complex knitting designs," she taps the red covered book, next she lifts up a green covered book, "And this one is-"
"More knitting?" You interrupt to ask.
"No," Rose replies. "This one is a cookbook"
"A cookbook?" You question, slightly surprised "I didn't know you liked to cook Rose!" she shrugs again "Hey you should let me cook with you sometime!"
"Sure John" Rose says, a slight smile on her lips.
By this time you and Rose have reached your house, she walks you to the doorstep even though you insist she doesn't need to. "Thanks for walking with me Rose," you say, "I hope I didn't cause you any trouble" feeling your cheeks get hotter you realize you are blushing. Rose seemingly finds this adorable because she smiles when she sees it. "No worries John, I quite enjoyed your company"
You both stand there in an awkward silence under the umbrella before Rose leans forward to place a soft kiss on your lips. You are surprised at first but soon your surprise turns into pleasure as you close your eyes and relax into the kiss.
Suddenly Rose's lips and the warmth of her body heat are gone, you open your eyes and see that Rose is no longer on the doorstep, she is now back on the sidewalk, as if none of that ever happened. "Goodbye John!" she says, waving her hand from under her pink umbrella, you wave back, returning the goodbye. And even from this far away, even in the pouring rain, you can still see her smile and the blush now prominently on her cheeks as she walks away.
