Chapter 1: Legendary Tales

After a long time, Sonic decided to visit his dino friends again. He activated the portal and zoomed into the past once again. He still had his time band that Tails made for him so he could return to his time. The dino kids and their families were happy to see Sonic again. Sonic played with his friends. They played a game of Tag. Sometime later, the sun started setting. Sonic, Grandpa Longneck, and the kids sat by some cracks in the earth, where the lava flowed. The cracks provided light and warmth from the lava like a campfire. Grandpa Longneck told them stories of Sonic's heroics. Sonic was introduced to Cera's twin nieces, Dinah and Dana. Dinah was dark green colored and Dana was dark gray colored. They were much younger than Cera and they spoke with silly words. They were also a little mischievous.

Grandpa Longneck told the twins and the kids how Sonic defeated the Eggasaurus and the mean Dr. Eggman. Sonic shook his head and chuckled as Grandpa Longneck told the story in a very heroic way. Then Grandpa Longneck told them other stories. He told them how the Great Valley came to be and how other things began. Littlefoot wondered which ones could be true. Grandpa Longneck then told a much different story. How their ancestors found the Great Valley and lived in harmony. Until a big and mean Sharptooth arrived. The big Tyrannosaur growled and roared at the herd. Suddenly, a special Longneck known as the Lone Dinosaur appeared. This Longneck fought like a warrior. The Sharptooth stood its ground and tried to bite the brave Longneck. The Longneck dodged the attack and hit the Sharptooth with its long tail, but then the Sharptooth hit back by scratching the Longneck's eye. The Longneck dodged another attack from the Sharptooth and then whacked the mean Tyrannosaur with its tail. The Sharptooth lost its balance and fell off a nearby cliff. The Lone Dinosaur was praised by the herds as a hero. But then the Lone Dinosaur left the Valley.

The kids felt disappointed that the Lone Dinosaur would just leave and not stay. Grandpa Longneck then told them about how an earthshake created a very large rock pillar. It was shaped like a big Longneck. The ancestors named it Saurus Rock. The large rock also had a necklace of sharp teeth. The teeth were said to belong to the very Sharptooth the Lone Dinosaur fought and defeated. The twins felt a little scared at the mention of sharp teeth. Cera then gave the twins a fright by telling them about the Sharptooth's ghost. The twins screamed and the kids laughed. Sonic simply grinned and shook his head. Grandpa Longneck also laughed at Cera's story.

However, nobody realized that Eggman was spying on them through a lizard spy bot. Eggman got bored and scoffed from listening to Grandpa Longneck's Lone Dinosaur story. Grandpa Longneck then explained more about Saurus Rock.

"They do say that if anything ever happens to Saurus Rock, Bad Luck will descend upon the Great Valley" said Grandpa Longneck.

Littlefoot asked his grandpa if the story was completely true. His grandpa was a bit skeptical but he told his grandson that it was a very interesting story. Grandpa Longneck also wondered if it could be true, to have a dinosaur warrior watching over them. Sonic felt that he was like the Lone Dinosaur because he was a warrior too, but he was always on the move, and never staying in the same place for too long. Grandma Longneck then came over to the group.

"Grandpa Longneck! Are you filling these children's heads full of nonsense, and just before bedtime?" said Grandma Longneck.

Grandpa Longneck's eyes went a little wide. "Why, no. I was… I was… Uh…"

Grandma Longneck simply smiled at her husband. "Yes, I know. But it's late."

Grandma Longneck then said that it was time for the young ones to sleep. The kids agreed and yawned. Sonic yawned too. The others started to walk back to their families. Littlefoot started to walk to his nest. He pretended to be a brave hero. But after hearing some roars in the night, he asked Sonic and his grandparents if they could come with him. Sonic simply smiled and chuckled. Sonic then sat close to Littlefoot when they went to his nest. They both went to sleep after saying their good nights to each other.

Meanwhile, Eggman sat in his chair in deep thought. He believed that it was ridiculous to think that a 'Lone Dinosaur' would exist and about bad luck.

"Bad luck? A Longneck warrior? Hah! Dinosaurs may have been the biggest animals that ever lived but they can never be as smart as a genius like me" said Eggman.

The evil scientist thought for another moment, then a big idea came to his thoughts. He grinned evilly.

"He He He! I'll show them what bad luck really is" laughed Eggman. The evil genius walked over to where he kept secret weapons. He pulled out a container that had a rock of some kind. The rock glowed and pulsed with dark purple energy. He found this rock somewhere from underground back in his world. Its energy came from a certain legend that lived underground. The evil genius believed that the rock's power could cause great trouble. He was going to use it on Sonic.

"The Great Valley and the rest of this world will soon be mine" said Eggman. The evil genius laughed wickedly.

Meanwhile, the Claw Heads finished eating some more chicken eggs and then got ready for some sleep. Ozzy wondered when the next plan will happen. Strut, however, felt unhappy. Something was changing inside of Strut. He was starting to have a change of heart. The Claw Heads slept on a bunch of pillows Eggman brought some time ago.

Back with Littlefoot…

Littlefoot dreamed that he was a hero like Sonic and the Lone Dinosaur. A Sharptooth was about to attack a mother Longneck. She stood in front of her son to protect him. She shook with fear as the Sharptooth bared its teeth. She then smiled as she saw 2 figures on a hill. It was Littlefoot and Sonic. They both stood there with brave expressions.

"Look! It's the Dino Heroes!" yelled the Longneck mother. Her son also smiled and so did other dinosaurs. The Sharptooth went a little wide-eyed but it stood its ground. Sonic and Littlefoot jumped close to the Sharptooth. Sonic jumped up and hit the Tyranno with a Homing Attack. The Tyranno growled in pain and backed up a little. Littlefoot then jumped up and hit the Tyranno's eye with his tail. The Sharptooth lost its balance and fell down a hill while roaring. Littlefoot was just as strong and fast as Sonic. The Dino herd cheered Sonic and Littlefoot. They both smiled brightly. But then suddenly, they heard an evil laugh. Eggman then arrived with a giant Egg Robot. It had a mace on its right hand. Sonic and Littlefoot got into fighting stances. Eggman grinned evilly.

"You think you can take on my Egg Smasher? Hah! No one can defeat me!" exclaimed Eggman.

"You sure about that, Egg Head?" Sonic said with a confident grin.

"Yeah! You'll never rule the Great Valley!" exclaimed Littlefoot.

The evil genius then glared at the 2 heroes. He tried to smash them with his sharp mace but both heroes dodged Eggman's attacks. Littlefoot and Sonic then ran at Eggman. Sonic grabbed Littlefoot's front foot and they both somersaulted. They both transformed into a huge Homing Attack. They struck the Egg Smasher and it fell to the ground. It broke apart into a metal mess. Eggman gritted his teeth in anger and threw a big fit. The dino herd praised Sonic and Littlefoot as heroes.

Littlefoot then woke up in the middle of the night. He saw that Sonic was still sleeping. He looked out into the distance. He really wondered if the legend was true, that the Lone Dinosaur really lived. Littlefoot then went back to sleep.

Littlefoot dreamed again that he and Sonic were the greatest heroes ever. They stood by their friends and looked out into the Great Valley. Suddenly, dark clouds formed and blocked out the sun. They saw lightning snake through the sky, followed by a big clap of thunder. Littlefoot and his friends shook with fear. Sonic suddenly felt pain and grabbed his head. He fell to his knees while groaning in pain. The kids ran over to help him. But then suddenly, a dark fog enveloped Sonic. The kids wondered what was going on and backed up a little. The dark fog vanished and some kind of dark creature stood in Sonic's place. It turned and looked at the kids. The kids went wide-eyed and gasped in fear. The dark creature had sharp claws and fangs. It growled at the kids and then roared. The kids covered their heads and shook with fear. But then, the dark creature vanished. The kids stopped shaking and looked around. The dark monster was nowhere to be seen. There were no dinosaurs around either. They saw that the sky was still storming. Suddenly, the earth began to shake violently. The kids screamed in terror. The ground began to split apart. The kids got separated from each other. Parts of the earth fell apart. The ground opened really wide. The kids saw lava below the ground. They all heard a huge roar. The kids looked around but they couldn't find where the roar was coming from. Suddenly, they saw some kind of monster rising out of the lava. It had huge horns and green cat like eyes. It rose out of the ground. The kids shook with great fear as the massive monster rose from the earth. It looked like the monster was made out of rock and magma. The kids were the size of insects compared to the monster's size. It spotted the kids on the ground and roared a huge roar.

Littlefoot woke up with a gasp. He looked around. He saw that the Great Valley was fine. He realized that it was just a bad sleep story. Though he wondered who those 2 scary monsters were. Were the dinosaurs in great danger in the future?

Next Day…

Sonic watched as his friends were having fun getting some Tree Stars. Dinah and Dana climbed a tree. They shook the branch so more tree stars would fall. Topps then came over with a frown on his face.

"Hey! What are you children doing?" said Topps. The kids stopped and looked a little upset.

"Oh hi daddy" said Cera.

Topps scolded the kids about using the tree stars. He told them to use the leaves carefully and not waste them. He wanted to make sure that they'll always have enough plant food because it was the time of the 'changing tree stars'. Grandpa Longneck then came over and told Topps to take it easy on the kids. Topps simply scoffed. Topps then said that Cera should be watching the twins since he didn't know that they were up a tree.

"Daddy, I AM watching them" said Cera.

Topps frowned. "Oh really? Then where are they?"

The twins then lost their balance and fell from the tree. They bounced off of Topp's snout and landed on a pile of leaves. Both twins then laughed. Cera then gestured to her father that the twins were okay. Topps grumbled in annoyance and walked away. Grandpa Longneck also walked away. Sonic sighed and shook his head as he watched Topps walk away.

"What a grumpy Three-Horn" thought Sonic. Sometimes, Sonic thought Topps was worse than Cera at being stubborn and grumpy. Sonic wished Topps was kinder and not so strict.

Cera then frowned at the twins. "Way to go. You almost got me in big trouble!" said Cera.

Both twins looked upset and cried a little. The others now wondered what they could do for fun. Littlefoot then thought of an idea for a game. He then said that they could play 'Lone Dinosaur.' He then said that one plays the Lone Dinosaur, another plays the Sharptooth, and the others play the ones who get saved. Littlefoot wanted to be the Lone Dinosaur. The others wanted Cera to be the Sharptooth. At first, Cera didn't want to be the bad guy but she agreed when the others told her that she's good at being scary. But Spike didn't agree by shaking his head. Ducky bumped her brother and he quickly nodded instead. Cera made roaring sounds and started to chase the others. Sonic smiled at Cera.

"Well, the Sharptooth can't catch me!" exclaimed Sonic. Sonic then zoomed off. Cera stopped running and frowned.

"Hey, no fair! You're not supposed to run too fast when we play" said Cera. Sonic stopped close by and looked at Cera with a smile.

"Yeah, but we never made that rule!" shouted Sonic. The Blue Runner zoomed off again. Cera grumbled in annoyance but she still decided to have fun with the others. She started chasing her friends again. Littlefoot ran over to the others. He pretended to act like a brave hero. He thought of making some kind of a heroic entrance. He looked around and saw a log by a cliff. He smiled as he thought of an idea. Cera continued chasing and growling at the others. Sonic stopped running by another cliff. He watched Cera chase the others. The others were cornered by Cera near some high hills. The others kids pretended to act scared as Cera got close.

"Now I got you" said Cera. She walked closer to her friends.

"Oh no! Please do not eat us, mean Sharptooth! Oh no, no, no!" Ducky said while pretending to be scared. Sonic then watched Littlefoot make his entrance. Littlefoot walked on a log near a cliff.

"Stand back, big bad Sharptooth!" Littlefoot said with a deep voice. The other kids looked up at Littlefoot.

"Never Fear. The Lone Dinosaur is he…" started Littlefoot. Before Littlefoot could finish, the front part of log broke apart. Littlefoot screamed as he fell. The others gasped in fear. Sonic's eyes went wide. Before Sonic could jump to catch Littlefoot, someone else caught Littlefoot instead. Sonic was very surprised but happy to see that somebody helped his friend. The stranger put Littlefoot down. Littlefoot sighed with relief and then looked at his rescuer. The dinosaur was also a Longneck who was a Diplodocus (Different Snout Longneck) whose name was Doc. Sonic then jumped down to his friends.

Sonic smiled at the newcomer. "Thanks for helping my buddy."

Doc nodded. Littlefoot then stepped forward.

"Who are you?" asked Littlefoot as he looked in awe at Doc.

"Name's Doc" Doc simply said. Littlefoot looked at Doc very curiously. He thought that Doc looked a lot like the Lone Dinosaur.

However, no one noticed that Eggman was hovering nearby in his hover vehicle. He readied a laser gun. It was loaded with the dark energy rock. Eggman smiled wickedly.
