It was Spring when they met. Two young men alone in a world that didn't quite understand them. Neither knew that they were searching for something but when they met they knew they had found something special. They found a friendship the likes of which they had never known before and never would again. They shared a connection of souls that ran deeper than they would ever have dreamed and together they felt as if they could take on the world. But the world wasn't ready for them… not yet.
It was Summer when they fell in love. Without warning their friendship had grown into something far deeper and more powerful then either could resist. They couldn't refuse how they felt and when they kissed, when they made love they both knew that what they felt could not be denied, that they didn't want to deny it. A single look between them would speak of love and promises that no one else would ever understand. Being together was all they needed. The rest of the world didn't matter. But the rest of the world refused to go away.
It was Autumn when it all went wrong. One of them was afraid to admit how he felt, the other was afraid not to. Alone they were unbreakable, held together in a love so strong that it should have been able to move mountains, to conquer anything. But when the world intruded he would back away to unsure of himself to admit who he was, who he wanted, to scared to really be himself. The more he pulled away the more he hurt the man he loved until there seemed no way to save what they had. The world wouldn't let them be… wouldn't let them love.
It was Winter when they said goodbye. He gave in to the pressure of the world and ran from the only real love he had ever felt. They parted both knowing that what they had shared they would never find again but still they both walked away from it. One was not strong enough to fight for his love the other was not strong enough to live a lie any longer. They both felt the cold of winter cover their hearts as they said goodbye. A bitter chill settled deep inside that nothing would ever thaw, not until they held each other again, only the heat of their love could melt the ice. The world might not be ready to accept them together… but they weren't ready to accept being apart… not forever… they just had to wait for the Spring to return.
