The warm night air blew against his face as he stood at broken window watching as Kim's small frame wondered out of the gates behind the sea of people of whom he thought were his friends until a few days ago. He watched as Kim slid through the gates with a final glance at the mansion.
Then she was gone.
Edward was alone once more, the walls his only company. His scissor like hands hung at his side a continuous strain on his shoulders and heart. Maybe if he had hands the neighbourhood would have liked him, maybe if he had hands he could be with Kim. He could wrap his fingers in her hair he could feel her soft skin beneath his hands, he could hold.
Maybe she'll come back? He'd tell himself, every day he would look out at the quiet suburban town just waiting to see that glimpse of strawberry blonde hair on its way to the castle. Many a day did he see that familiar head with a bounce in her step, he watched as her hair style became shorter, he watched as her school bags turned into work bags, he watched as she drove up in a 'Just Married' car, he watched as she came home a baby in her arms. Then soon he stopped seeing her. She didn't come back, but he still felt her presence.
Each year when the lights went up on the small houses he'd carve the ice, he could still see his Kim dancing.
