John was floating in dead space. Nothing to do except cook in the same haven that had protected him for so long. A home away from home.
As he contemplated his place in the entity that was life, he suddenly shivered. Startled out of his musings, he observed his surroundings, resting his good arm on a cold panel.
'Hold it! Cold?!' John awkwardly unzipped his suit and pressed his back against the panel, breathing a sigh of bliss as he wedged himself between a handle and a control console.
Gordon looked over at his elder brother at hearing the sigh. Puzzled, he quirked his eyebrow enquiringly at his position.
John replied with a simple "It's cold." and a happy smile.
Gordon immediately pushed over, tentatively feeling the wall with hastily un-gloved hands, and celebrated with a loud "Yahoo!" as he scrambled to get closer.
Jeff, Scott and Virgil swam over, looking at the content duo with some trepidation.
"Are you OK boys?" Jeff asked in concern.
Virgil hastily added "No signs of either Hypothermia or Hyperthermia?".
"No, it's just that this panel's cold." Gordon replied hurriedly. This panel was cold, and neither Hell nor high water was going to move him from this spot. Besides, he'd previously had both types of -thermia, and this was just cold. 'Deliciously cold at that.'
"You sure?" All three questioned, in some fashion or other.
"Ha!" John exclaimed "Feel for yourself!" as he nudged Gordon slightly to the side with a smirk. Jeff hesitantly removed a glove and pressed a shaking hand to the panel, bracing himself against the control workstation.
"Ah…" he sighed, as Scott and Virgil floated nervously. "Yep, it's cold.". All three quickly found ways to wedge themselves into different positions where they could get the coolest, as they waited for rescue, aided by those back on Earth.
AN: Hiya Guys & Gals! Sorry I haven't been on for the past- (err, let's just call it yonks and leave it at that, eh?), but I've been coerced into doing revision for my AS levels, and when my phone was swapped for a non-internet one (the horror, the HORROR!) then there went my last access point to FF. Still, this was a oneshot I wrote for a great friend of mine for her birthday (long gone) so HAPPY BIRTHDAY D C JoKeR H S!
