"I fear no one, least of all you," Morgana hissed. Merlin quickly turned around, striking her with his sword.
The witch cackled.
Merlin pitied her. Her beauty had disappeared altogether and a woman he did not recognize stood her place. He watched helplessly as her eyes glowed gold shattering his sword coming closer, circling him like he was her prey. He eyed her carefully, while her gaze pierced him. He called to his magic only to be in vain.
"I was a fool to trust you," she spat still circling him. He grimaced, as she continued.
"To think poisoning me wasn't your first betrayal."
"What was it you said that night," she began mockingly. " 'I really wish there was something I could say.'" She pronounced each of his past words with sarcastic venom.
A pained expression graced his face thinking that maybe if he had told her the truth, that maybe, none of this would have ever happened. It was too late now.
She stood in front of him now, boring into his eyes. He saw his betrayal clear as day in those jade orbs.
"Let me hear you say it," she spat. "Just. This. Once."
Taking a breath he said the words he should have uttered all those years ago. The words that could have saved her from the darkness.
"I have magic."
Crack!
As soon as the words left his lips, her hand came crashing down upon his cheek.
Holding his cheek he returned his gaze to her as a tear slid down his other as their tragic history flashed before his eyes. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
She grabbed his neckerchief pulling him down to her level. Sapphire met jade. Their eyes shone with pain, sorrow, betrayal, hatred, and lust, for they could never shake off the attraction they had towards each other.
"You…" she hissed as he felt a dagger plunge into his abdomen.
He gasped when he saw her eyes darken with hatred and…pain.
"…Emrys…" she spat with disgust twisting the dagger in deeper as their gaze never faltered, even when he let out a strangled cry.
"…are a coward," she hissed as she pulled the dagger out. She could see the remorse in his stormy blue eyes. She smirked as he fell to his knees before her, groaning in pain.
"You have defied me for the last time!" She sneered above him.
He cried out helplessly as she commanded the rocks to fall, caving him in to die alone.
