Our Little Turkey
"Jeez, Er, where did you go? We have to be at Voight's at noon. I know you went for a run, but for an hour?" Jay wondered walking into the kitchen, where his girlfriend was putting a pie in a carrying dish. He was already dressed in jeans and a dark blue button up shirt.
"I know. It took longer than I thought to..." she began as he looked at what she was doing.
"Did you bake that while I was sleeping?" he wondered confused, knowing they ordered in a lot more than they cooked.
"Are you kidding me? I think you and Ruzek had a few too many last night if you think I actually baked a pie. That's what took me so long; I had to pick this up," Erin laughed. Jay smirked and walked over to her. He put his hand on her waist and gave her a quick peck on the lips.
"I think they did a good job on the pie, what do you think?" Erin asked nonchalantly. Jay nodded and then glanced at the boxed pumpkin pie. Erin eyed him nervously.
"Yeah, babe, it's...Erin," he began feeling his heart flutter. Erin smiled at him nervously and Jay stared at the pumpkin pie that had "Thankful for Our Little Turkey" written on it in coolwhip.
"Our little turkey? You are?" Jay began. Erin smiled and nodded.
"I took a test on Monday. I know we weren't planning it, but we also," Erin began, but was cut off by Jay's lips over hers.
"We're having a baby?!" he asked pulling back and looking at her. Erin chuckled and nodded.
"Yes, we are having a baby," she confirmed. Jay touched her flat stomach and she giggled.
"Er, you... We... How," he began. Erin shook her head and sighed.
"I think it was around the whole I love you, we should get a flatscreen, time," Erin smirked. Jay chuckled and pulled her into a kiss. Erin put her hand on his chest and looked up at him.
"You ok?" she asked seriously. Jay smiled down at her and she couldn't help up smile back.
"I'm more than ok, Er. You are carrying my child. That's amazing," he beamed. She chuckled.
"It is, isn't it?" she asked, still not believing it herself. Jay nodded.
"I take it you want to let everyone know today?" he wondered motioning to the pie. Erin sighed.
"Normal people would usually wait until after the first trimester is over, but with our job and everything," she began. Jay sighed and grabbed her hands.
"I didn't even... I'm so sorry, babe. I know your job is the most important thing to you and now you can't," Jay began. Erin shook her head and put a finger to his lips.
"Don't even finish that sentence, Halstead. You and this baby are the most important things to me and I'm going to do everything in my power to protect him or her," Erin told him. Jay nodded and they shared another kiss.
"I'm going to hop in the shower. We have to be at Hank's in an hour," she said catching sight of the clock. Jay nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, we don't need to be late. Now we get to tell our boss and your father figure that you are pregnant," Jay sighed. Erin gave him a curious look and Jay raised an eyebrow.
"He's probably going to take me for a ride somewhere and," Jay began. Erin laughed and shook her head.
"Well that would leave my baby fatherless and I don't think he'd do that to me," Erin pointed out. Jay shook his head and Erin kissed his lips firmly.
"He might be surprised, but it'll be a good surprised, I promise," Erin nodded. Jay sighed and watched Erin walk towards the bathroom. He smiled as he looked at the pie. He couldn't believe he was going to be a father.
