There are two things that he remembers: his sister's hands and rain.

Every time she hugs him, or drags him off to wherever, or pushes him on the swings, she is warm. It could be six o'clock in the evening in autumn, where a thin layer of frost has already spread to the leaves, and where a chill has swept the air, but her hands would still be warm in their aspen-white mittens when she takes his hand and leads him home. Her hair is snow white and the curls are like petals of ice every time they fall into her face, but then she'd laugh and open her eyes and her hair would melt into his skin and even that was warm.

That is what he remembers.

He also remembers rain.

He remembers a hell-like rain that thuds against the roof of their mother's car as she drives down the road that scares him and makes him worry. When he tells his sister, Amane says nothing and holds him closer as if he were her little brother even though she's really his little sister because they're twins and she knows. She closes her eyes and bites her bottom lip as if she's thinking happy thoughts for him, but he's still feeling cold and cold is all his remembers.

He's still cold after he visits her tombstone and leaves white lilies on top of the ground on top of her because they're pure and aspen-white like her mittens. He doesn't know why he's cold because he shouldn't be because he's wearing them right now on his hands and they're hers so they should be warm but they're not.

There is snow all around him as he sits on her swing set and it falls on him but doesn't melt and he wonders why because it should because he should be warm. But he's not.

That is what he knows.

"Bakura?"

He doesn't look up because he keeps forgetting peoples' voices and he shouldn't talk to strangers because his mother says so.

"Ryou?"

He looks up because no one uses his first name unless they're close to him and he doesn't know why but he thinks they are.

Jounouchi is standing over him with snowflakes melting on his face and his neck and his hands. Ryou thinks he should ask but he doesn't because he thinks he knows already. Instead, he nods and watches him curiously, thinking that Jounouchi should be cold because he's not wearing a hat, sweater, or mittens and he should be cold.

He thinks that maybe Jounouchi's going to ask something because there's that look of question on his face that he's seen before in some time he can't remember. But then Jounouchi simply shakes his head and smiles, sending a light powder of frost spinning around his head and Ryou thinks he looks ethereal for a moment.

"Ryou, can I push you?"

At first Ryou's confused because he's forgetting where he is and it's cold and so cold and he shouldn't be feeling warm but he nods anyway.

And suddenly he's flying into the air and he almost forgets to hang onto the chains because he's so surprised at the sudden feeling.

The snow is falling all around him and it's melting upon his skin and Jounouchi's laughing ever so softly but he can hear it anyway.

Jounouchi's hands are warm.

That is all he remembers.

I really don't know how Amane or her mother died --; I'm assuming it was a car crash.

Repetition and using 'and' is good for the soul when you're thinking xD

Oh, and Schuldich-muse? There is a "death" label right up there; were you looking close enough? –sweatdrop-
