Ok, these is really kinda stupid, but whatever. Thought of this because my friend and I are always complaining about how scars never stay long on us.

Sakura stared at Naruto as he once again asked her about scars, "Why are you so upset that you don't have scars Naruto?" she asked him, not for the first time, knowing she would probably get the same answer yet again. Instead he just turned and walked slowly away as she thought back to all those other times...

"Oi! Sakura-chan! What does it feel like to have a scar?" Naruto asked Sakura after one of their first missions.

"I don't know, Naruto, don't you have enough scars from all the stupid stuff you've done to feel for yourself?" Sakura asked him rather irately. "Besides, why do you care so much about scars? I'd love to get rid of mine!"

"I don't have any scars, they just don't stay. And I care about scars because I worked hard to get them, it'd be nice if they stayed around!" Naruto jokingly answered.

And there was last time, Sakura thought, after he had his arm gashed open and in only a week there wasn't even a mark. He had asked her as she was putting ointment to reduce a scar onto her hand.

"Why do you want to get rid of your scars so much, Sakura-chan?" Naruto asked in his oh-so-blunt way.

"Why do you want to keep them so much? They're annoying marks on my otherwise perfect skin."

"I worked hard for those wounds, I want to keep a momento of them!" He exclaimed loudly.

"A momento of the times you messed up?" But even as she asked he just shrugged and walked away.

And now...But he turned and said to her sadly, "Because, Sakura-chan, scars tell a story. They're not just times you messed up, or when you were against someone stronger, they're stories. You can tell someone, oh yea, I fought him and survived with just a wound, but without that scar it doesn't mean anything. It's like reading a story without the words. I have so many scars on the inside, I just wanted one that someone could see for once. To show that I had a story, even when I can't remember it. Scars show you that what you went through wasn't just a dream, or a fairytale, that it was real."

As Naruto walked away Sakura felt a tear go down her cheek.

It had never been completely about the scars, it had been about remembering the people who had given him those scars even when they were gone.
