Annie Cresta sits in her bath tub, bathing herself in warm water. Closing her eyes, she hums to herself, thinking how peaceful everything is. Slowly, she drifts off to sleep...
Hearing the door open and close, Annie rushes over to Finnick, throwing her arms around him. He wraps his arms around her, holding her tightly against him.
"You're back! You're home!" Annie says happily. "I'm so glad you're here."
"I missed you," Finnick whispers.
Annie couldn't stop smiling for days.
"Please don't cry."
"I'm not crying," Annie says.
Finnick reaches over and wipes the tears from her face. "Yes you are," he says softly, and replaces the tears with kisses. "Why are you crying, Annie?"
"It's just...we've been through so much. I can't bear to think... I don't want you to leave me, Finn," she says. She grasps his hands and says, "Please don't leave me again."
Finnick frowns. "What makes you think I'm going to leave you again?" Annie shrugs.
"I'm here to stay," he says. "Do you hear? I'm here, and I'm never going back."
Annie slams the door behind her and breaks down on the bed. Finnick follows her into the bedroom and stands there looking at her. It's raining outside.
"What do you want me to do, Annie?" he says with a sigh. He runs a hand through his bronze-coloured hair.
Annie looks up at him with angry tears threatening to fall from her green eyes. "You said you wouldn't leave," she says through gritted teeth.
"They want me back in the Capitol - what can I do?"
"Say no!" Annie shouts. Finnick couldn't believe it. Annie couldn't possibly be telling him to defy the Capitol - to defy Snow.
Annie takes a deep breath and stands. "I'm sorry -"
"No," Finnick says. "I get it. Annie, I get it. It's just not easy."
"I know."
"I love you."
Annie looks at him and whispers, "I love you too."
Finnick is topless by the waters.
"Don't go!" Annie cries. She is weeping and she knows this time, Finnick will go and there is nothing she can do but beg him to stay.
He doesn't reply.
He isn't listening.
Finnick is gone and now Annie is waiting for him. She crawls under the covers and suddenly she couldn't breathe. She is screaming and screaming and screaming.
Annie looks around her. She isn't even in bed anymore. She isn't even in her house. She's under ground, in District 13.
No. Not anymore.
She's back home, back in District 4, waiting for her husband to come home. Her little baby is sleeping in his cot. She hears the door and rushes over. Finnick.
Annie is begging him to stay. "Please stay, Finnick," Annie is saying. "Don't go back to the Capitol. Don't go back into the Games. Don't you love me anymore?"
It's raining.
They're standing by the sea. It's so cold.
"Go inside," Finnick is telling her. "The water is cold."
"I don't care." But Annie can't breathe now. She looks up and a huge wave is coming over them. She tries to call out for Finnick; she tries to reach out for him.
She would've told him to stay with her.
The huge wave pours over them and Finnick is lost.
Annie Cresta sits up in her bath tub and she is gasping for air. She blinks the cold water out of her eyes and it isn't until she wipes the water from her eyes does she realize she's actually crying.
She pulls the plug but doesn't get out of the tub. She sits there, alone, waiting for Finnick to open the front door again.
But he doesn't.
