I couldn't believe it. Kenpachi might actually beat me, even though I was in bankai form and had my mask on. It wasn't only his physical power, or his reiatsu. There was something different about Kenpachi's confidence.
Kenpachi grinned. "Whats wrong Ichigo? Having a problem beating me, even though you have the advantage at the moment with my eye patch removed? Chicken out already?"
I shook off my feeling of doubt. I rushed straight ahead to attack him. I could win this. I shouldn't be hesitating with only a limited amount of time with my mask.
Kenpachi's grin got wider. "Bad move Ichigo. SUNAPPU, GAMA KU-KAKUHAN!!!!!!!!"
I watched as Kenpachi's sword started to change form a sword to a whip like thing in slow-motion. As I watched, the whip appeared to split in to nine different whips all in one. My eyes widened as realization came over me. It was a cat-o-nine-tails. The handle was white, and each tail was stained with the blood of everyone Kenpachi has faced.
I stopped in my tracks and backed up. This was new. Last time I saw Kenpachi, he couldn't do this. In fact, he wasn't even supposed to be able to do this.
Kenpachi's grin got even wider. "Come on Ichigo. Don't wimp out now. Things are just getting warmed up." Kenpachi came at me and cracked his whip at me. I dodged a few of the tails, but some of the others hit me. I felt a white hot pain surge through various parts of my body. I noticed a burning and itching feeling after the tails fell down. "You don't mind a little poison now do you, Ichigo?"
I was caught off guard by his question. And that made me lose this rematch with Kenpachi. Some of the tails seemed to wrap around my limbs, and before I knew it, there were thorns piercing my skin. I struggled hard, but couldn't get free. I passed out soon afterwards.
The next time I woke up, Captain Unohana was watching over me. "What happened?" I asked groggily.
She replied with that curt smile on her face. "You lost to Kenpachi."
I passed out again from the thought of losing to that man.
